I'm always looking for a place to blog and discuss things on my mind or that of my friends.  What better place than here!

A little about myself, I'm 56 years old, currently unemployed and trying to stay afloat in today's economy.  I always was very frugal minded and have been participating in and honing my skills in voluntary simplicity for many years.

I'm planning on going back to school as of February for Medical Assistant in hopes that a job in the medical field will be easier to find that one in IT where I used to work.

I knit, crochet, work on genealogy, raise three fur babies and spend a lot of time on the computer playing games or chatting with friends on social networks.

I'm also looking for a new friend or new project to keep me busy.

Tell me a little about yourself and let's chat.

I'm 72 years old, currently unemployed and plan to keep it that way. I'm hardly frugal, I love spending money and having fun, so that's why I spend time making money on the computer each day and pump up my fun money fund.

I'm not planning on going back to school, but who knows when I might change my mind? I like to take my wife traveling around North America and we make several trips a year. This year we had a week on a houseboat in Key Largo, a week at the beach, a week in North Carolina and we already have reservations for a week at Yellowstone next summer. That's why I keep clicking.

I also sing in Barbershop Quartets and play a little bluegrass guitar with my boys.

I'm a 46 yr old single mom of 2 teenage boys. I have been trying off and on for 3 yrs to make money online and I know that somehow I will. My 17 year was diagnosed 4 years ago with a rare auto immune disease where I didn't think he was going to make it. My son has suffered depression and wasn't sure if he would be around. I enjoy cooking but hate the clean up. I also enjoy reading and swimming. I also want to do something to help other single moms and that and needing to stay home for my kids and just needing extra money is by drive to make a successful at home business. I think blogs like this is good because you get to know others from all over the place.

I started a part-time job yesterday selling calendars from a kiosk in the mall.  You might think, and I did, that these are the simplest of jobs but there are a lot of details to learn.  I know I'll catch on quickly but my goodness, they give you 2 hours of training and then leave you on your own and this is the busiest season of the year.

Hang in there!  You know, I have never really thought about working at a mall kiosk.  That would be an idea to maybe look at!  Let us know how it goes! :)

New job

I took on a part-time seasonal job in the mall selling calendars in a kiosk.  I'm sure I'll catch on to what is necessary to do for the job but the thing that troubles me is all of the backstabbing with the other workers.  From the asst. manager who interviewed me warning me about other employees (very uncool) to the girl that trained me and then both girls they were warning me about warning me about them! OMG.  Why can't we all just get along?

That's unfortunate.  The way I see it, you may be the positive change they all need!!!  Hope it gets better for you! :)

;D I'm 50 years old and currently unemployed outside of the home. I have 3 wonderful sons over the age of 18. My middle son will leave for boot camp in January. I don't want him to go, but it is his choice so I will respect it.
Since being out of the work force; I volunteer my extra time with my church. Along with others, I help to raise $ and nonperishable items for families in need in our community. I love to cook and I collect old cookbooks. I feel that my biggest passion is gardening. I currently live in the city in a small apartment; gardening is not an option for me right now. I have cluttered up my apartment with house plants but it just isn't the same as a vegetable garden.
I have recently adopted a chichuachua. I have never really liked small dogs but I must admit this little bugger has stolen my heart. He fills up my day with joy and laughter. Some of the stuff that Misterbo Jangles does reminds me of some of the things that a 3 year old child may do. I have really enjoyed reading all of the comments listed in this forum. There are some days that I leave this forum feeling alittle bit better than when I first log in. For this, I 'd like to say THANK-YOU to all of you. I hope that this holiday season brings peace, joy, love, and an abundant amount of blessings to all of you and your families!!! :peace:

It seems like your user name is very fitting! Take good care of your sons; I'll keep them in my prayers.

I feel the same way about cooking and then having to clean up! I wish I could make a deal with my husband so that I'd cook and he'd clean up, but he works all day, so I just take care of it.

I'm glad you found Fusion Cash! Just keep on keeping on!

Glad to meet you.  I used to play organ/piano but have gotten so rusty it's a chore to sit down at the keyboard anymore.  I think I need some teach yourself to play books to get me back into shape.  Cute cat.  Wish I could own one but the BF says no more.  He had a bad experience with them.

Between us we have three dogs, two Maltese and a chow.  Hope you have a wonderful holiday.  I'm making cranberry salad today and have done some baking but my daughter is going to do most of the cooking.

Thanksgiving
« Reply #28 on: November 26, 2010, 02:53:07 am »
I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my BF and daughter.  We cooked a traditional meal, although we didn't go overboard with the sides, then my BF took a nap while my daughter and I worked on crocheted afghans and listened to Classical music.  It was so relaxing.  How did you spend your day?

My hubby, 2 of our 3 adult children, traveled and had Thanksgiving dinner with my mother-in-law and her husband.  We had other family members there and had the best time and fellowship.  After that, we went for a late supper with my father-in-law and his wife.  We played games and laughed a lot. My hubby and son traveled home, while my daughter and I had a girls' night at a motel - relaxing and watching movies.  We returned home today.
We didn't get to see our oldest son (in the Navy), his wife, and our 2 granddaughters, but we did get to talk with them.  They are going to stay with us for a week at Christmas, though!  :)
