Kim,

Sorry so many things went wrong on Thursday.  We have those days but it makes me wonder how things tend to happen in numbers on one particular day.  The flea market sounds interesting with the Amish items there; and the English, too.   How far away is Lancaster from you?  Have you ever visited an Amish town or neighborhood?  I've heard from a couple of people that even they have been affected by the economy and have had to close some of their "stores."  That was a great price for the wetsuit!!

I feel bad about the tire paint and all not working out right.  But it sounds like you are on track now with what you need to do.  I'll keep a lookout on FB for your pictures.  They'll look neat when done and filled with the colors you are talking about.

You have a busy day today!  I'm glad you get to see your son and have the kittens with you, too.  I hope your visit with him and your mom's friend goes really well.  I hope you have nice weather going to and from!

There are some really neat sites through FB with the pictures of unusual or creative gardens, homes, and more!  Just when I think I've seen it all, here comes a new set of ideas and sites to look through and share!  They're really neat.

Today was pretty quiet for me.  I paid some bills online, did some housework, and spoke with a couple of friends/neighbors.  I babysat, but he didn't get his nap before coming, so he slept most of the time he was here.  By the time he woke up, got changed, and had his snack, his mom was here.

Hope you have a super Saturday!  Also, have a wonderful and Happy Mother's Day!!  ((Hugs)), my friend!

~  Julie  ~  :)

Juanita,

I'm sorry to hear about your sister and prayers are going up for her and your family.  That does seem to be an unusual medical problem.  At least I've never heard of it.  I hope your sister is home soon and that you can visit again.  She probably enjoyed seeing you.  Keep in touch and let us know how things are going.

Kim

I just wanted to say Happy Friday to everyone.  I wasn't online much yesterday.  I went to Richmond (Midlothian, actually) to visit my baby sister, who is 65, in the hospital.  I have done some research over the years and have found that a lot of auto-immune diseases run in our family, and also a lot of unusual diseases and ailments.  I don't know if this is one, but my sister has one kidney much smaller than the other and had two blood vessels  running through the small one.  This was causing her to have high blood pressure, even on four different medications for HBP.   The surgeon did a procedure to (I'm not really sure how this was done) cut the flow of blood in one of the blood vessels.  I think he put a stint in it, but I'm not sure.  She is recovering from the procedure, and I guess the next few days or weeks will tell how well the procedure worked.  I'll check with you guys later.

Julie,

Lancaster is on opposite ends of the state from me and I've never been there, although that is where my dad's family originated and there is a big family reunion I'd like to attend one day.  We have quite a few Amish in our area too though.  They seem to be doing more construction work for the English these days than what I remember when I was a kid.  It's becoming a more common occurrence to park at Lowe's beside an Amish buggy.

I did get to visit with my son and took the kittens with me.  They fell in love with the kitties!  I didn't get to see my mom's friend though as my son wasn't feeling up to visiting anyone.  He has some anxiety issues when it comes to being around new people.

I got to go to my favorite grocery store and ended up spening way more money than what I planned so now I'm too broke to go to the community yard sale in the next town.  :(  Oh well...when you can buy Suddenly Salads 2/1.00, BBQ sauce 2/1.00, 4 packs of pudding cups 2/1.00, a quart of black strap molasses 2.19, and packages of meat at mix and match for 5 for 20.00....you save when you spend!

I'm going to stay home today and do some homework, reorganize a couple of cabinets and work on my transcription files.

I'm glad you didn't have too hard of a day yesterday with the little guy.  Now maybe today you can truly have a Julie day and do just what you feel like doing.

Any big plans for Mother's Day for you?

Hi Kim,

That's really interesting about the Amish in your area, parking beside their buggies, and helping the English with construction.  I do know they are hard and honest workers and with a lot of them, can build a house pretty quick.  Those are just a couple of reasons, out of many, of why I would love/rather live up north.  There are so many differences in the way things look, are done, and the types of houses and buildings, atmosphere, etc., that I want to be around.  I guess I developed a heart for up there through my dad and my grandparents, aunts, and uncles, who lived up there.

I'm glad you got to visit with your son and that they enjoyed the kittens.  They didn't try to talk one away from you, lol?  Sorry you didn't get to see your mom's friend.

You did get some great sales on those products - can't blame you at all for snapping them up!

You may have an "at-home" day today, but you have definitely given yourself plenty to do!  Hope you get a lot done that you want.  I worked on my classwork some today, cleaned one of the bathrooms, and then our pastor's mom and dad came over.  His dad cuts Roddy's and Adam's hair, and his mom comes to visit me.  I am starting to notice some more changes with her health - her mind is wandering more, including forgetting normal words for things (this week she called a car a green horse; then a few minutes later said car); and her mood will switch abruptly from calm to agitated.  She's not done it at me, but to her dil, and some others.  She always remembers my name, but will forget many regular people's names who are always around her.  She's on stronger meds in the morning for her trembling/shaking - which helps her during the day/evening.

Plans for tomorrow are home and simple.  They are grilling steaks for us, with potatoes and salad.  I know I won't hear from the older son, but am so thankful my other 2 are here and are so supportive of Roddy and I.  I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day yourself.  What are your plans?

((Hugs))

Julie,

Living around the Amish is certainly different.  There weren't many around when I grew up here but seems that more have moved into these areas.  I want them to adopt me so I can learn rugmaking and other neat things.

I got some good yard sale buys yesterday too.  I thought I was broke and wouldn't go to any sales but scoured the house for coins and went to just three in my area.  I got Bob a really nice pigskin coat, an UnderArmour shirt, a bunch of body wash from Avon (50 cents each) a few button down tops for myself and some other goodies.

The kittens are fully on canned food now and potty training is going well but the kitchen floor is constantly covered with litter and in need of sweeping/scrubbing.

I'm going to go to WV for a week to help my daughter prepare for Dakota's graduation party and to attend graduation.  The kittens should be pretty self-sufficient and Bob should be able to manage while I'm gone.  He will come down in time for the party too.  I suppose he will need to bring the kittens with him for that one night.

It does sound like the pastor's mother is sliding downhill.  That's sad.  We have the same thing with my sil's mom.  She had a stroke and even though she knows what she is saying, or so it seems, the wrong words come out and she gets frustrated.

I'm slow cooking ribs today.  Not sure what I'm fixing to eat with them...possibly suddenly salad.

I hope you have a great Mother's day!

Kim,

Hope you are having a nice Mother's Day!      Veronica made steaks for me/us!  She and Adam cleaned up, then brought out a buttercream frosted cake, which is one of my favorites.      It's been a nice and quiet day with them.  Nothing from the other son.  My pastor even sent me a text (Roddy told me later he knew about it and that he was concerned for me if son didn't call.)  That was sweet and thoughtful.

Wow - you were able to make some good buys yesterday with scouring up coins!  What we women can do when we are determined, right?!!   8)    ;D

I'm glad the kittens are on canned food now - that helps a lot.  As far as the litter, lol, between our 3 grown kitties, I have a swivel sweeper back there and use it daily for the litter "crumbs" from their paws.  Yep, the mopping and scrubbing come into it, too!  Wouldn't trade the kitties, though!    :cat:

That's sad with your SIL's mom.  We can't blame them for getting so frustrated knowing what they are saying and meaning, but the ones around them don't.

I hope you have a nice time in WV.  It's nice you are helping your daughter to prepare for the graduation party and all.  Hope you all have a nice visit.  Congratulations to your granddaughter!!  Hope the kittens have a fun field trip if they have to come with Bob, lol!

Hope your ribs were delicious!  Suddenly salad sounds just fine with them!  I'm glad you are off for awhile and able to do some things you want to do.

Have a great Monday!

I am a wife, married for 37 years with 2 adult children.  I am employed full-time as a medical transcriptionist working from home.  I love reading blogs on saving money, frugality, and multiple streams of income which is what brought me to Fusion Cash.   Every little bit adds up and this is easy money.

Welcome.  Kudos to you for being able to do the medical transcription work from home.  I would love to do that too but fear that is a job that is difficult to get into these days and one that is phasing out due to the Dragon Naturally Speaking.  The doctors in where I was interning were using that program and it seemed to be working quite well.

I too love to read about ways to save money and frugal living.  I only do My Points and Fusion Cash right now.  If you know of any additional / easy to earn sites please share your information.

Hope to see you again.

The zoo is always a great place to spend family time and I'll bet it was packed for Mother's Day.  Glad you had nice weather.

Julie,

Veronica's steaks sound wonderful.  I did fix the ribs with suddenly salad and a tossed salad and they were good but not as good as if someone else would have cooked them (and cleaned up).  The cake sounds good too.  Our dessert was a dreamsicle.

Sorry you didn't hear anything from Randall but as you said you expected that would be the case.  Very thoughtful of your pastor to have your situation in his mind.

I talked to my other daughter last night and guess I'll be going to visit her on Thursday so we can work on her yard.  She doesn't know what to do to create privacy so I'm going to offer some growing suggestions.

Bob bought me a nice Calalily (sp?) for Mother's Day.  It is in a bright yellow faux watering can.  I got another nook of flowers on a stand growing in the breezeway now and included the lily in that grouping.

Funny story...last night we were in the living room and all critters were within eyeview except one kitten.  I kept hearing a noise in the kitchen so went to investigate.  I had a bag of sweet potato chips (with sea salt) on the counter and the bag was moving about and making noise.  I knew the kittens couldn't be up that high yet so pretty much figured we had a mousie.  Turds were covering the counter too so I called the biggest cat in the house, Bob, to come do his job.  He found a trap in the basement and set it and within 5 minutes the poor little fellas rump was sticking out of the trap with his last bite of sweet potato chip in his front end.

It even makes me sad to kill mice but it has to be done.

He reset the trap but nothing this morning.  A lone mouse or just one that got away from Nala?

Not sure what we're doing today.  I have to make some business phone calls and of course there is enough daily chores to keep me busy.  I want to get the plants in those kart tires I painted and possibly paint a few more.  Race colors, green, red, yellow and some 4th of July in red, white and blue.  I'm going to have Bob take those to the track and see if anyone would want to purchase them and make a bit of spare change.  If not I'll just have more to decorate with!

See you about.

Kim

Thank you all for the prayers for my sister.  She is doing well in her recovery so far.  I just hope the procedure will help her to get her blood pressure adjusted.  I am concerned about her husband, Dana, however.  He is my sister's second husband and somewhat older than she - about 15 or 16 years, I think.  He has been in remission from Hodgkins' Lymphoma for about 10 year, but his most recent tests show the cancer cells are back.  He is very frail (he has lost 15 pounds in the last couple of months) and will have to take chemotherapy by pills rather than by infusion because of his fragile state.  Please say a prayer for him, too.  Thanks so much.

I had a great Mother's Day, especially since my daughter and her family got back home from NC yesterday, and we were able to get together for a short while.  We didn't stay long because they were tired because of the long trip.  It takes at least 4 hours but longer when you have a 4-year-old who has to "go potty" frequently.  Anyway, we as so happy they are back.

Have a great week, guys.

Hi and welcome!  My hubby and I will be married 30 years this July, and we have 3 adult children, 2 granddaughters, and another grandchild on the way.  I took a medical transcription class/course and really wanted to work from home with it.  Where we lived at the time, they were using as many ladies, plus the things I needed for home were a little much for my finances.  I did enjoy the class, though.  :)

Juanita,

I'm glad your sister is doing well so far.  I'm sorry her husband is struggling with the Lymphoma cancer cells coming back.  I hope the pills will help with that.   I'm so glad you had a great Mother's Day and your daughter and her family getting back home!  :)
