I think today more than ever given the challenging state of our economy and just living status, children need and will depend on their educations. It is so difficult to get in all the material needed to teach now with 5 days,so my vote is keeping it 5 days a week and even using an after school program or some kind of resource to help extend or making learning fun so that the children do not even know they're learning!!

I definitely think they should keep it at 5 days. When kids are Jr and Sr in high school and have passing grades they can usually get more flexible classes that require more research and work outside the classroom. I don't think a 4 day week is a good idea because if they miss days they would miss too much.

:)

If it is due to state budget constraint, then maybe they should prolong the hours in school with a few added hours a day to make up the normal 5 days/week schedule. Don’t know if that can be possible.  :dontknow: Since you asked, what do you think about it?  :)

poor teachers & students - will be brain dead with 10 or 11 hours a day in school. need lots of breaks and gym? plus poor working parents that will have to worry about that day they are not in school... I like the 5 days. but my children are all grown with children of their own.

It is not the amount of school days that is in question. It is the quality of education all around. The No Child Left Behind act has pushed teachers into "teaching" the test and skipping the basics. If I felt my children were getting a well rounded education, then I wouldnt mind a four day school week. Because of the current state of the public education system, I home school my children. Its up to me to see to it that they are progressing with skills they need and not being "groomed" for standardized tests that prove nothing.

I think that 4 days a week of school would be pretty awesome, but after a while we're gonna need more school cus if we dont, we're going to ,sooner or later, lack the knowledge

I think school should be 5 days a week. A typical work week is 5 days a week...parents will have to try and find child care for 1 day a week.

Having workede with children for over ten years and having a child of my own, I would have to say that cutting the days back would not be good for the children to keep up with all that is needed for the children to learn what is needed in a year.  I have to say that I think that they do need to do something with the schools to make it more children and family based.   All children don't learn the same way so if we were to work at a 4 day a week schedule then maybe there needs to be something else in the 5 days for the children to learn some basics that they maybe lossing out on in the time school is going.  Maybe put some of the arts back into the school system so all children get a chance to learn what they should.  Were my son goes to school he has two or three weeks of academics and then he has two or three weeks of tech classes, so that when he is finished with school he has an education and a skill maybe we need to look in these areas.

Nah I'd just stick with 5 days of school, because it really is hard to catch up if you miss just one class and having 4 days of school in highschool not a good idea.

No. No. No.  Kids already have too much free time.  Imagine how much trouble they will get in with an extra day off.

I don't think so.
My BFF only goes 3 days a week (its a private school) and she really doesn't understand the material. Also, she gets double the homework. It really doesn't work well since you really can't learn a lot.  ;)
