I am not in the Christmas mood until I hear Bruce Springstein's version of "Santa Clause is coming to town" and always crack up when Bruce asks Clarence if he's been good and is going to get a new saxophone for Christmas!  Ho-ho-ho! Merry Christmas!

I like just about everything that Mannheim Steamroller puts out (all their Christmas CD's).  They take old favorites and put their own "spin " on them.  Their musical arrangements are fabulous.  They take the old Christmas hymns like "Joy To The World" and Come All Ye Faithful" along with the more modern ones like "Frosty The Snowman" and the "Nutcracker Suite", and make their own arrangements.

If you've never heard them, then your in for a treat.  When we have our "real life" Nativity, we play Mannheim Steamroller in the background.  Every minute, the people in the Nativity change someway (like robots), and then remain motionless for the next minute.  Wal Mart let us do it in their parking lot one year (in the back so we wouldn't block traffic) and it was a hit.  Hundreds of people stood there, and watched it for the longest time.  Of course those playing characters in the Nativity froze...lol  We haven't done it for the last few years because of how bad the weather has been.  It's a great fundraiser for a church or school, as you can sell hot chocolate and coffee to those viewing.

Mannheim Steamroller is fantastic! We have their Christmas CDs as well.  Have you listened to Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Christmas music?  Theirs is amazing as well!

Yes I have...they are also amazing (as you said).  I like music that has more depth like those listed above.  There's a video on YouTube that has a house with lights synchronized with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's song of "Winter Wizards" or something like that.  It's really something to see.  I don't have the address, but go to YouTube and type in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and it should come up.  I must have watched it 10 times last year.  It won all sorts of awards.

Lonely Jew on Christmas from South Park... LOL, no, j/k.

I always loved "Happy Xmas (War is Over)" by John Lennon and any Hanukkah song.  If I'm the one singing it, I love "Silver Bells" and "White Christmas".

There are way too many Christmas songs out there. Most of them are classics. I don’t think we need to invent more songs as many of the same songs are sung by different artists. I like Santa Baby, White Christmas, Silver Bells, Oh Holy Night, Oh Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, Il est né le Divin Enfant, Amy Grant’s Breath of Heaven, and most of the original Home Alone soundtrack.  :angel11: :peace:

I love Silent Night. I think it is a beautiful song. I especially like it when children sing it.

Oh that's right Amy....your Jewish.  How inconsiderate of us not to recognize that you celebrate Hanukkah.  I agree that "Silver Bells" is a beautiful song, and that old classic from Bing Crosby of "White Christmas" always makes me smile.

Happy Hanukkah to you and your family.
