Beware of educator.com
« on: December 08, 2010, 04:19:09 am »
If this offer comes up again, I would steer clear of them. I did the free trial and was actually impressed with their content and delivery. Since my children are pre-school and my wife teaches elementary and middle school children, we realized this product provided little value to us. Educator.com is directed more towards high school and college level subjects.
Their website does not list a phone number anywhere. They do have a contact page. I filled out the form to cancel 5 days into the 7 day trial. On the 6th day I was charged $35. I have yet to receive a reply from any email address for Educator.com  (Educator, Inc) or their contact page.

Oh God, that is bad. I did that offer and canceled it after 2 days or so. As of now I have not been charged. But it is scary from what u say. Hope they wouldn't charge me.
This is a big problem...This is the reason I never use my credit card for any offers. Hope u get your issue resolved soon.

My case is very similar, I registered, next day I cancel trial thru paypal.  Educator took the $35 right away, as it turns out my paypal account was $5 out of the $35 need it, so paypal without my authorization went into my bank account (which is there to transfer money from paypal not to paypal) and got the rest of the money, my bank account was short since my pay check had not gone in until the next day and I got charged $35 overdraft fees for $5.  When I canceled next day, educator did not release my original $35, until 5 whole days later, Now my bank will not return the overdraft fees say it is paypals responsibility, paypal says they are not responsible that is my bank responsibility, and around, around, I am $35 short on fees and $5 that paypal took for the charges, not registered, and to top of it all of I DID NOT GET THE 0.60 credit for my troubles.  :BangHead:  :crybaby2:  >:(

wow that really sucks. next time try using a prepay debit card or something so that you don't have to worry about them dipping into your bank account

I try to stay away from trial offers too, although I recently signed up for audible.com trial.  I was able to download an audible book that might help my son study for one of his classes.  I just need to remember to cancel in time.

That's a bummer on those that participated iin the educator.com trial.  It's a bummer when you get charged even after cancelling during the free trial.  Crossing my fingers that won't happen with audible.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I did in fact contact support at FusionCash, twice. I laid out my concern, much as in the OP, with greater details, to include times, copies of emails, and withdrawal times. Both times, the response was boiled down to sometimes you just don't credit. No mention or help was provided how to get educator.com to respond or refund the money.

Upon rereading my original post, you will note that I praised the content and delivery of the service provided by educator.com. The product turned out not to be targeted to the age of my DWs students.
This would be akin to an expensive motorcycle I once owned. I took it to a dealer for service. They didn't change a light bulb I had told them failed. This bulb is part of the mandatory safety check for service. The manual was signed off as having been completed. They also burned a whole in the fiberglass fairing and were mad I made them replace it. They told me never to bring my bike back to their shop.

In both stories above the product was superior, the service was sewage.

i'm going to try to avoid using my credit card unless it's something i really want and is a great deal. i've even had bad experiences buying off online auctions where the product wasn't as described.

Agree with vmi1991, that particular service was bad, FC is great.  In my case since I was using paypal i did not think that it was going to be any problem, and still her I am $40 short.  I am not asking FC to reimbursed me or anythign like that, I just want them to be aware that it is happening.  I will never sign up for any trial offer again, that is just me.  I have no CC of any kind not even the prepaid ones just paypal and even bad experience with them.

but FC is the best and I love them even when not everything gives you the credit you are expecting, that is not there fault.

@ lywb2168, I am so sorry to hear your story. It is a lesson to all as to how much to keep away from such sites. We all opted for it to try the site, how it works etc and then those of us who did not find it useful canceled it later. That is what trial period is for. But unfortunately the site owners do not think so.
@wsnyyankees2009, Thanks for sharing this info and reminding us of FC rules.

Even though the situation is still "crappy"  :BangHead:       It's best you made FC Customer Service aware for future reference
Wish you better luck going forward  ;)                FusionCash is a GREAT SITE & should be APPRECIATED for it's EXISTENCE!!  :notworthy:
