The thread is about cute Christian pictures.  I posted the picture of the cat which was cute, since the cat was obviously not reading the Bible...I posted a quote that wasn't from the Bible, however makes good sense.  I also posted a note that the quote was NOT from the Bible so as not to confuse anyone (the quote has appeared on several Christian websites as well as church signs & materials but in other non-Christian places as well).  I see you have multiple posts here yourself, but only one photo...and not much for Christian content so what's your point

It was a joke! lololol

You sound just like the typical, sneaky salesman for the other company.  No, there aren't any better or respectable deals out there...if there were, they'd be working for you.

lol believe me- I'm not a salesman. I don't believe in some defined fantasy-oriented afterlife like you. And there are plenty of respectable belief systems out there that you probably know nothing about. Again, this just seems like the typical user clinging to emotional bonds rather than doing research outside of their comfort zone.

If you found Christianity to be a ripoff, then you found a wrong kind of Christianity.  I've done my homework, I've gone to the Source.  I continue to read His "fine print", COMPLETELY satisfied

So what you mean is if I take "Christ" out of "Christianity", I would have the right type of "Christianity"? If you used your honest, non-biased, and skeptical approach, and looked at it as a whole and weighed against other popular belief systems (Ever research Hinduism? It's amazing!), you would probably not be such an adamant christian. I say 'probably' because many people align themselves with a belief system just for the social perks which I think is fine. Getting back to the point though- It's a 'ripoff' because of the first 6 letters in the name of it. Your protagonist savior is full of fraudulent stories that take similar approaches to other character's quest patterns throughout earlier history and even during his own story. There were "christ-figures' way before there was this good guy!

They're well-known facts that christians just can't fathom and rather than accept it and basing their reasonings from that point, they find cheap and odd ways to work around the truths of it. This has been demonstrated numerous times in d+d.

...or were you just referring to the strong emotional bond you speak of? If so, LOL I LIEK TEH PIX AT TEH BEGINNING OF THREAD

To be almost saved is to be totally lost.

I was saved, baptised and everything else when I was little, and I actually believed in it all whole-heartedly but now, I'm not sure what I believe, so what does that make me? Lost again?

and I'm truly being sincere in my question. I'm just not sure anymore.
That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.

Says you - your opinion; not a proven fact being a rip-off....  I'll stay with my opinion and my choice for Christianity.

It's not an opinion. It is "fraudulent". Many of the beliefs were borrowed from other systems. We've been through countless threads talking of them- for instance Jesus' story and how it follows mythical and ancient quest patterns that were set long before his time. Other messiahs during the time that parallel his story. Christmas and easter. The flood. I have never seen any decent argument for proof of christianity and its truths here. That being said, it's obviously not my job to pull heads out of the sand since they seem so cemented in. I'm just displaying the reality of this overloaded and awkward belief system. When you want to welcome the reality of this world and understand that your beliefs aren't solid and that this is just one of possibly millions of other faiths, the facts are really easy to get into. That, or you can continue the comfortable self-deception, boxed-reality, and questionable system that christianity truly is.  :(

Edit: Not sure if you've seen this study-
http://articles.latimes.com/2010/sep/28/nation/la-na-religion-survey-20100928
That's where we differ.  I understand the reality of this world, the good and the bad.  But, understand this: My beliefs are solid in the Lord Jesus Christ, not any other.  The Bible is God's Word and in today's society, His Word is the main communication between Him and Christians. Prayer is conversing with God.  To the world, Christianity may be questionable, and that's understood. As a born-again Christian, it is not questionable to me.

I just don't understand why people fight Christianity so hard but yet try to help promote other faiths. Why does it matter so much to a non-Christian what Christians believe?  It's almost like they are actually afraid to face their fears about their own eternity. If it means keeping my head in the sand because I'm a Christian, then so be it.  In the meantime, you believe what you want.  In the end, we will both end up where our personal choices lead us.

Any other religion could start their own thread about their own "wisdom" to live by and their own pictures

Maybe they don't constantly 'attention-*bleep*' the forum with cheap and petty propaganda because they're humble enough to respect their own and others belief systems. Which, in turn, makes the individuals beliefs look respectable. You and I both know this is a major problem with christianity in this country. The fact that it's prevalent on a forum is proof enough.

If someone feels a need to constantly go "crashing" in threads intended for Christians then either they know they are missing something, they have a problem or they are seeking attention.  Since this thread is a Christian thread about cute Christian pictures---not a place for discussing other religions or debating with non-believers about religion/Christianity, that all ends here with me.

Again, like I stated earlier, this is debate and discuss. Don't post here if you aren't looking to do both of those. That was one of my original points here. If people are going to go flood the forum with cheap religious junk, do it somewhere else. Here's a clue- http://www.fusioncash.net/forum.php?board=1.0

Also- 30 posts = 3$.

If I may comment-

You are far from lost. It may look like you are, but I assure you that you are on a trail. To where? Well...you are in a very unique spot right now to educate yourself. If you have the time, take a world-religions class or pick up a book and learn about the different belief systems out there. You'd be amazed by what you find and how unique and balanced some are. The best thing you can do with beliefs is to keep them all at some distance. They all have the ability to fog the mind. These types of belief systems are just concepts and explanations. They aren't reality- they're stories about certain realities. While it's fine* to have stories about these types of reality, it's a problem to take one of these systems and wrap it around your whole mind as an identity. Once you do that, your mind loses interest in the truth and becomes preoccupied with defending and promoting the belief it has adopted and remaining allergic to rational arguments; you become almost immature and too emotionally attached to step out the bubble. So even if what you choose is accurate (pertaining to your life), the act of committing yourself personally to it will fog the mind.

People love to get attached to beliefs because they don't like the sense of nervousness that comes from just being alive and not knowing exactly how it's going to go or what we should do with our lives. Clinging to a belief tends to reduce that anxiety, but it does so at the price of our interest in the truth. Not really a good deal, eh? Not to sound like I'm 'advertising', but this is personally why I've learned to embrace the mystery. But there are those who simply don't care about these things. And even then, as long as they are doing no harm, it is an acceptable path. Vive ut vitas!

Try Jesus. If you don’t like him, the devil will always take you back.

One can't ALWAYS blame the devil for EVERYTHING.  Sometimes your enemy is your "inner me"... for instance, look in the mirror, you'll see the devil sometimes.

Thank you Falconer for the reply. I have been doing some research and I'm still just not sure about it all. But I believe I am on the right path. While I respect faith, doubt is what gets you an education. so, I shall see what I find.

Thanks again Falc.

Wow. Here I thought Christ was supposed to be this noble stoic anti-materialist saint that his followers are supposed to respect, but it seems like he's more of some really cheap dumb fad now. Pretty funny. I guess maybe some people are just too idiotic to even grasp the basics of christianity, Marieelissa. That's really pathetic.
