Million Dollar Money Drop
« on: January 13, 2011, 01:36:31 pm »
Anyone seen this new gameshow?  I started watching it after the first episode's "scandal" was posted on Yahoo.  It's sooo addicting, but you can totally tell that FOX has it set up so everyone will leave with way less than 1 million dollars.  Only 3 people have won so far out of 9 episodes!!  And two of them were for low amounts ($80,000 from 1 million).

Check it out on hulu if you haven't seen it yet.   ;D

Yes I have seen it and heard about the scandal that they were wrong on one of their questions about the "post-it notes"........I think it is wrong to not give them the million dollars because no matter if they invite them back or not it offsets the whole game results at that given moment.  But they got invited back so we will see what happens.  :dontknow:

It was definitely a poorly phrased question about the Post its.  They technically WERE sold in stores first, but just as testers, and only in select stores, and were not called Post its.  If the show had included that oh so crucial word "nationally", there wouldn't have been a scandal.   :P

I watched it for the first time last night and love it. Finally a new game show worth watching. I like the trivia and strategy involved and plan to watch it from now on. I had not heard about the post-it scandal, what was the question and what happened?

I like it

After spending time stretching my brain to make more money online, some brainless entertainment is perfect. I don't try to guess the answers, I just watch all the hype and suspense for fun.

I have seen one episode. :) I didn't hear about the Post-it scandal either but I like that they are letting the couple come back and play again.

In theory you could win a million dollars on the show if you put all of your money on one answer every time. The problem is that no one wants to do that because then if they are wrong then they lose everything at once. :) I wouldn't want to risk all of my money on a single question just in case I wasn't right and I would be perfectly happy to come away with even $5000 left over from that million that I started with!!

I generally don't watch network TV and had not heard of this, but it sounds very interesting. I might have to check it out.

I had not heard about the post-it scandal, what was the question and what happened?

It was question 5 out of 7 and it was: Which of these was sold in stores first?

A. Mac computer
B. Sony Walkman
C. Post its

They put over $800k on Post its, but in the end, the answer was Sony Walkman.  It was a scandal because Post its technically were sold in stores first, but not in the national sense.

That is the standard on these game shows.  They get tons of money from advertisers but do not spend or give away near as much as they take in.

My wife and I discovered this show a few days ago. I think it's one of the hottest game shows on the tube today. The exciting mounts as the cash decreases and the number of drop tubes decrease as well.

Yeah, we've seen it, and we actually play along in a similar way. You can too, here's how. Get yourself a Roll Of Pennies. There are 50 of them, and they will represent the 50 Piles of $20,000. Now, get yourself 4 cups. Any kind of cups will do. You're forced to pay the same question as the contestants choose, but that's okay. Do your best. After the answers come up, and the question is read, pause the program, if you're able to. Chat amongst all those in the room with you, and make your decision where you want to put the pennies. Continue the show. If you have money in a cup that corresponds to a drop that opened, Bye-Bye money!

Good Luck becoming fictitious Millionaires!
