I do our income taxes, along with my parents and nieces taxes.  I use tax software that I purchase every year.  Some times I double check myself.  But find that I can get the same results as if I have someone else do them.  I think that if you are comfortable with doing them then you should but if you have any problem or not comfortable doing them you should have someone else do them.

My husband does our taxes with Turbo Tax.  Since we retired a few years ago, our taxes are much simpler to file and the refund is much quicker.  Yay!!!!

I do our familes taxes by using Turbo Tax.  I have been using it for 10 plus years.  6 years ago I got a copy of Tax Cut, and I had a hard time following it.  Maybe it was because I was used to Turbo Tax.

I use one of the free online services.  My sister is a corporate tax expert and used to do mine for free.  However, she gets very conservative in allowing deductions for her little brother.  It gets a little old, when you are 45!!!!!!  Which reminds me, I have to get those done sometime soon.

I've been doing mine myself online using TaxAct website.  This year I'm considering hiring a professional due to having purchased a house - want to make sure I'm claiming everything correctly - but now I'm thinking I'll do them myself again.

Taxes are not hard to do.  Have you ever baked a cake?  Now that is hard to do.  How about assembled a bicycle?  Again, something that is hard to do.  One of my pet peeves is H & R Block (and clones).  Ripoff?  They get a lot of low income families that cannot afford to pay the $100, $200 and even $300 to have someone prepare their taxes.  They and other such companies prey on the low income families that want to get their tax refund in a hurry.  And sadly our government help supplement these vultures.  Just follow the directions one line at a time.  Most Americans can use the 1040EZ or the 1040A.  Most do not need to or can't itemize their deductions.  You bake me a cake and I'll do your taxes.

I use a really good software, take my time and avoid getting ripoff.(Lol)Before then i was going to Jackson Hewitt faithfully. Until I realize what a waste of money. May the door hit you in the back(cause they never saw me again). HA! HA! HA!

I do my own taxes  ;D  This was my first year filing as an "independent," so it took a little longer.  However, I didn't find the process that overwhelming.  In fact, I found it more of a learning experience.  Before, I always did my own taxes because I was filing a 1040EZ, and honestly, it takes... five minutes to complete?  There's nothing difficult about it.  You merely fill out your personal information, your income, make your standard deduction and compare how much you "should have" paid to how much you actually paid.

The 1040 took a little while longer.  I received a 1099 INT from ING Direct.  I have one of their high-yield savings accounts, so I made enough money in interest for it to be included within my "taxable income."  And I received multiple forms from my student loan lenders.  I had to add the amount from the 1099 INT to the amounts in my W2s, which was only about $104, so it didn't do that much damage.  I was able to deduct $2,500 for my student loans, as well as the "standard" deduction!  It was really interesting.  I never THOUGHT about my taxes until this year.  I realized that you want your taxable income to be as small as possible so the amount you SHOULD have been taxed is quite smaller than the amount you actually paid.

I even tried doing an "itemized" deduction instead of the "standard."  I had about $6 taken out of my paycheck every month for quite some time as a donation to United Way.  I only ended up donating about $240.  And since I don't have medical insurance, I tried adding up the cost of my Dr's appointments and medications, but the total wasn't nearly the standard deduction of $5,700, so I didn't bother with the itemized.

I also took advantage of the "making work pay" credit.

Usually, my return is only a few hundred, but this year it was $614 thanks to my student loan interest deduction and the making work pay credit  :D  Plus I did them online using the Free Fillable Forms website.  AND I used direct deposit for my return.  I received the amount in about 1.5 weeks.
