Electric being taken

Is there really a big amount of people that Steal Electric. I have never seen that happen intill now. I am wondering what anyone thinks about it and have you seen others do it. For me i would never do that, but for some do.

I had a former roommate that  was supposed to put the electric on in his name, instead he broke the meter and flipped it himself, a month later they shut me off for illicit service and when I turned it on in my name I had to pay for electric used and a tampering fee.

Many, many years ago we were on vacation.  When we came back, our cable wasn't working right.  We called the cable company and they came out to check.  Turns out a neighbor in another house had tapped into our cable while we were gone.  Ours was fixed, but I don't remember if they even found out who it was.
