I'm with some others on here...

Music with expression. That has been my motto and always will be. I love to hear expression, as I make expression with plenty that I do! Anything that's just put out there for the sake of getting attention, money, and/or fame is nothing I care to hear. Well, how would you know the difference? That's the hard part, I guess. It would take getting to know the actual artist/band, which normally can't be done personally (unless you really want to know the truth, darn it!). I don't take that route, but for the most part, I don't really listen to mainstream music. Sometimes, yes, but I like to hear what the underground folks create. Get to know them a bit better, and that's easier to do!

Progressive rock, probably.  Older stuff like Yes and King Crimson, but some newer stuff like Tool and the last Mastodon album.

I like a lot of different types from classic to good old rock and roll the classics to jazz like Harry Connick,Jr, cannot forget all the oldies that was so popular in the dare I say "60's" I know I am dating myself but maybe I was naive or just to busy but the world seemed simpler then

I like metal, grunge, alternative rock, maybe some pop songs...from the 90's. Modern music is gone in my opinion.
