I don't know why these arguments keep getting brought up. It's always the same thing, Christian believers use the Bible as a source of proof, and non-Believers refute that. Without compromise and open-mindedness the so-called debate will never be a true debate. It just seems to be pointless to me because us Christians get accused of being "sheep" and "followers" while the other side does not take into account that faith does not have to have proof. I have gone from being a believer, to not, and back again so I do see both sides of the argument. But that's just it, there is rarely a true argument anymore.

The major problem most people have understanding the Bible is due to ignorance.  It's easy to take snip-its and turn it into anything you want it to be.  Study the Bible earnestly from beginning (Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.) through the end (Revelation 22:20-21 - "He which tesifieth these things saith, 'Surely I come quickly'.  Amen.  Even so, come Lord Jesus.  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.  Amen.") and allow the Holy Spirit to open your heart to understanding.  The "rules & regulations" of the Old Testament was for the Jews of ancient days when they had to offer sacrifices for sin atonements.  However, as prophecied through out the Old Testament, God provided a way of salvation from eternal damnation and that way was through the death, burial & resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ (and I do believe He was of virgin birth, led a sinless life & died for all who will accept his gift).  Yes, God did & does judge sin.  Study closely and you will see that God didn't let sin go unjudged or unpunished and He still doesn't.  I look forward everyday to the trumpet sounding...(I Corinthians 15:52 - "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.")

P.S. Please don't call me a "Bible Thumper".  I have more respect for God and my Bible than that.
Have a wonderful day!

I don't agree with all your saying.  I think you have taken several verses out of the context as to where they are found in scripture.  Let me ask you why then does St. Paul exhort that men should love their wives as Christ loved his Church?

Don't you think it is kinda presumptuous to try to claim you know what g-d feels about marriage?

Even if you interpret the Bible to say that marriage is one thing, it was written ages ago by fallible men.  Even if it is divinely inspired, just some food for thought here, think about this: human beings are allowed to adapt their ideas and change their minds over the course of time.  Why would g-d give this ability to human beings and not possess it personally?  The world has changed so much since the Bible was written.

Think of the countless other situations where one group was oppressed because it was believed the Bible to say so, and how now we know it to be ridiculous.  Then think about this in 50 years when there is a WBC group out there talking about biblical views of marriage, and we all laugh at them and call them idiots.

you make a good point but God knew that life and people were going to change.. humans evolve just like everything else. i dont think that the bible is s set of 'rules' that we have to follow. they are more like guidlines for the way that he intended us to live. He intended for everyone to not have sex before marriage, to marry the opposite sex etc etc... back in the day it was okay to stone women for things like that. It was a law back then and their way of the 'death sentence' is stoning. we still kill people today if they break a law. so in a sense, yes we should still follow the guidlines of the bible!

all we need do is look at the difference in families who live by the Bible and those who do not. I difference is extreme.
one is good, the other is not. All we need do is tell them, after that we need to dust our feet. GOD can handle them, I don't have too.
I don't mind being called a Bible Humper, in fact I like the Title and am not ashamed. Again, as Noah was laughed at for over 100 yrs
while he built the Ark, they stopped laughing and making fun of him when GOD closed the door of the Ark and it began to rain.
Remember there are stories in the WORD that give us hope, even when we are laughed at. In fact,  we could laugh at them if it were not so serious. and then there was Lazarus. But to us it is wonderful, to others it is a stumbling block & foolishness.

All I can say is no one can tell you who you can and can't love!

Gay, Straight, Lesbian I think everyone should have a fair chance to be with the one they love!

If god excepts them shouldn't everyone else?

This is me You don't like too bad!

You got that right.  The people who actually DO follow the Bible (like the Westboro Baptist Church) are monsters and a waste of human life.  Good thing most Christians don't abide by the filth that covers their "holy" book.  Better to be a hypocrite than a danger to society.
