Yahoo Mail
« on: May 19, 2011, 02:05:17 pm »
Yahoo is upgrading their mail service.  Like it or not, you will have to upgrade.  I have done so and like the new Yahoo mail.  But I am having a problem with their Yahoo Messenger.  Every time I access my mail, I get a Yahoo Messenger pop up.  I have to block the person or delete and then I can read my mail without the pop up on my screen.  How do I stop Messenger from popping up?   I have no interest in Yahoo Messenger.   :dontknow:

Good question, I have the same problem- but only when using Internet Explorer.  You could try out Firefox or Chrome I suppose.

What! You don't want to chat with some pretty woman. And exchange pictures! LOL I get them all the time. Have to block them, but next time I sign on their is a couple more!

Same problem here, and I definitely don't want to chat or exchange pics with pretty women (since I am a woman).

Well, I figured it out.  The problem was that I was logged into Yahoo messenger.  I logged out and I have had no problem since.  Yahoo Messenger is listed on the left side of your screen along with many other links and features.  It is called online contacts.    Find it and log out.  It is very simple to do -- just one click.  And then, if you want to log on, just click again.

I have found a lot of difference in the different message centers, email and browsers. They all have their little quirks. :)

I am still using the old classic Yahoo Mail. I don’t like the new version. I prefer the old style and reverted back to the original layout without problems. I don’t have problems with messenger since I never downloaded it.

Why don't you try Gmail- the email system provided by Google? I found it easier to use than other email systems and it is free. It does not have a messenger system like Yahoo.

I upgraded today but I never got any errors. I used firefox to open mine. The design is much better I think. They give you much more screen to view your emails.

yeah i have the same problem. i dont know the person who is trying to get a hold of me. maybe we should both complain to yahoo about it or change our privacy settings. i didnt think about changing mine until u said something about blocking people.
