Yeah, I have seen the show a few times. I wish I had the knowledge to use coupons like those people in the show. Then again, I don't have a family to support. Its just me and my soon to be 4 months old dachshund name Shadow. Those people are more than welcome to donate their groceries to me LOL

I love watching this show! I think it is great to see that some people are able to start out with an extremely high balance then get it down to a few dollars or cents. I wish I had the knowledge of how to do this. I get so confused with coupons sometimes. I don't think I would ever be able to figure out how to do this without having someone be able to show me a step by step process. I think it would be great if they had a class or something you could take online to get more information on how to coupon like this. I know it would certainly be nice to have my grocery bill drop in price every week!!

I agree! I would love to learn how...I also think it's neat that they often donate stuff they get for free

To get a lot of the savings that they get I think requires two things from the grocery store:

1.) Will double coupons, most important. My grocery store will only double coupons that are under $0.50. As most coupons are $1.00 off, this cuts me out.

2.) Allows overages. Like, if you have a coupon for $1.00 off, say, Heinz Ketchup, and the ketchup is on sale that week for $1.25, with a doubled coupon, you're making money on the transaction. This counts me out again because none of the stores in my area will allow overages. They'll zero out the price, but won't go over that.

I'm still learning but having a lot of fun with it, and watching our main grocery bill go down more and more each week with the mid-week, sale/coupon combo stock ups I'm doing. Each week I get at least 1 free tube of toothpaste, so I don't think we'll ever have to buy that again :)

Today I bought $70 worth of items at Rite Aid. After sales/coupon combo it was $32, and I got $11.00 printed coupons back for use on my next purchase.

Also, @manders8, almost all of the big coupon blogs have intro courses for free online, sites like WeUseCoupons.com, or KrazyKouponLady.com  I thought it would be too hard, but after a while it starts to get easier and easier.

I have watched it too but what gets me is that they buy like 130 bags of croutons or 200 bottles of juice!!!!   I use coupons but I can't imagine having so many of one item!    I don't have the place to store it!

I'm in the same boat as mawhite63. I don't have any stores that double (well, one but only Wednesdays and you have to spend at least $25 in addition to get the doubling) and no one gives overages. I do use coupons when I can and watch for sales and stock up. But in my area, it is not possible to do it the way they show on tv.  :(

Personally, I think they are spoiling it for the rest of us average couponers.  It is ridiculous to buy 75 of one product and then store it at home.  Enough toilet paper or toothpaste for 40 years!  Some of this stuff has to go bad.  It seems some of the extreme couponers are obsessed with it.  We don't get double coupons where I live, but I manage to save an average of over 40% on my groceries.  I did see one show where a minister and his wife donated their whole stash to charity.  Already a few stores are making a limit as to how many coupons you can use for one product.  I am fine with that.  All of those shows are staged, obviously, as the store has to order extra merchandise for all the coupons.  Apparently one lady cheats by using a big coupon for a smaller product with part of the same code.  My stores keep a pretty good eye on my coupons and occasionally ask if I really got a product (I did), but how can they do that when you hand them hundreds of coupons.

The show does get more people interested in using coupons, which is well and good, but people have to be realistic and know that they will not do the same as the show.  What they don't mention on the show is that a lot of the people buy extra papers or buy lots of coupons over the internet.  That should figure into the bottom line on their grocery bill.

Honestly the people that do that type of shopping usually have large families. The only people spoiling it for any one is the jerks that put that stupid show on the air !

I wish i knew how to do some of that. Im not looking to get my groceries for free but If I could just cut my grocery bill in 1/2 that would be nice.

I look for sales, try to use store coupons and use sites like coupons.com and i do save some money but still i wish i could save more.

Personally, I think they are spoiling it for the rest of us average couponers.

I complain about this all the time on the other coupon threads. I think it's beyond inconsiderate, and even a little anti-social, to completely clear the shelves of something. There have been times when I've gone to a store, and every single thing on my list is sold out only a day after the sale started.

One of the Walgreens cashiers told me there's a group that will hit every single Walgreens that are open 24 hours at midnight on the night a circular's prices are effective. They'll just go from store to store. How bizarre.

I was actually happy that RiteAid started a policy where you can only use 4 like coupons per purchase. I know they'll just roll them over into separate transactions, but it levels out the field for the rest of us who are only looking to buy less than 4 like items each time we coupon.

I've seen the show and it has started us looking at the ads that are delivered at home instead of throwing the papers away.  We're saving a little of stuff we really use so that makes me very happy.  I think it takes too much organization for us to do it these days because neither one of us is 'as good as we used to be' at anything   :sad1:

I've seen the show and It's not extreme couponing It's called hoarding. Those people have a very serious problem. It'd be different If they donated ALL the stuff they got for free but I've only seen a few people on the show do that.
