I tend to like herby / savory dressings: Ranch, Bleu Cheese, Italian (oil / vinegar based, not creamy), and non-fruit vinaigrettes (eg Balsalmic). I've never been a big fan of sweet dressings like French, fruit-based dressings or Thousand Islands. I guess for me, salads are usually more of on appetizer or main entree, and I like those to have more of a savory taste. The only exception is if I go to an upscale restaurant where they professionally dress the salads properly; then the dressing becomes a part of the entire dish, and so whatever dressing they use is fine with me.

My favorite salad dressing is blue cheese.  It goes great with wings, and I like the extra chunks of cheese bonus that you get.  My DH likes ranch and french mixed somehow the mix of the flavors appeals to him.
