I'm no fan of Obama in the slightest, but I would vote for him over Perry/Bachman any day of the week and that includes Palin. Normally I leave people's personal religious beliefs to themselves and try to focus on policy and such, but the Dominionist philosphy espoused by these three is pretty scary and I would vote Obama over them any day. These are not people you want control  of nukes.  I'm hopeing America will be smart and elect Ron Paul, the only guy who undertands this mess, but I'm not real hopeful on that front.

What's the Dominionist philosophy? Why would anyone's religion be important if we have no country left? Please don't vote for Obama.

I honestly don't know if he would win. I think that the American people are so upset at the things that aren't changing fast they don't realize the hardships the president must go through to fix the horrible situation the United States is in now. Has anyone realized how fast his hair went from black to peppered grey? Bush really put us in a state of decline after all his tax cuts, and don't get me wrong most of them were good. But after a point, we NEED taxes. Not just because it helps the government, but because it helps generate a LOT of revenue that we don't even realize. The tax money comes right back into circulation with the American people anyway. Its not all going to the government. But now that the debt ceiling is so high I don't think Obama has enough time to fix any of the new problems that have arisen. I highly doubt he will get another term, but I do think that the new president will get stuck with the same situation as Obama. A broken America and a lot of pressure from citizens to fix it, and fix it fast.

By NO means at all am I politically smart because, quite frankly I think I'm politically ignorant. But this is just my personal opinion made from the things I do know or have learned from school, the news or any other source.

Taxes don't help.  The more the government takes in the more it spends.  It could tax us all at 100% and it would spend 150% as that is its nature.  Think about all the things it is involved in, all the meddling and regulating and then read the enumerated powers given it "by the states" in the Constitution and limitations in the Bill or Rights.  Consider then if the federal government just did its duties how well off we would be and how low taxes could be.

As I said before I am by no means politically smart. I have heard of some town or city someplace that only has a sales tax. Nothing else. I haven't heard much about the place, I thought it was some kind of research tactic to see how well the people there would suffice. I've also heard of the new "world" they're building cost billions of dollars, where everything will be brand new? Have you heard about that? There is no rules, no laws, no regulations, no government, nothing. I was shocked that someone would even attempt to go back in time and restart the way of life we had. I'm not quite sure of all the details, but I don't know if I would want to participate in something like that. Don't get me wrong, I don't like taxes as much as the next person. But how else are we supposed to generate revenue other than taxes and large cuts to programs this country needs?

Do not assume I am correct simply because I say it with authority and you, as you mention, are not particularly studied in the area.  There are those that take a different view than I do, I was just sort of giving my opinion based on the experience of my life.  I decided quite some time ago that I knew better how to save or spend my money than the government did.  I trust my judgments (have been wrong many times though) about my well being more so than I do the judgments of some distant bureaucrats involved in more aspects of others peoples lives than anyone has any right to be.

I think the place you are talking about is known as "libertarian island".

Regarding taxes though, some are necessary.  They should keep it simply within the enumerated powers given to them.  Think, though, how they go about meddling in other areas with these taxes they receive from us.  A simple example is speed limits.  The federal government has no authority to regulate speed limits within states and the abusive way they get around this is to withhold their monetary responsibilities for maintaining roads and other infrastructure unless the states comply with their rules outside areas of their control (such as a federal speed limit).  In other words they collect taxes to maintain roads (enumerated power) but don't return these to the states unless the states comply with demands that the federal government has no authority to control (speed limit).

I think the next 12 months will determine if Obama get re-elected. He inherited a mess but to this point has done nothing to fix it and has probably put us in a bigger mess. We need someone who is willing to make the hard decisions without trying to be liked or care themselves about being re-elected.

I see. You seem to be knowledgeable enough to be living quite well though. Seeing as your factual answers are so detailed. I like that people can talk about things like this without being in each others faces and screaming their own opinion, in which they always think are right. It's been a pleasure chatting with you!

all politicians are the same behind closed doors.  i don't trust any of them!!  i am an independant, and the only way this country is going to change is to get a libertarian in office who still believes that americans should still have rights.  all the democrats and republicans believe in is having a big government to rule us all and take away our rights.  the country is shot right now!!  obama said he wants a change, and all it has done is get worse.  i personally don't think this country will ever get back right.  too many people have ruined it

Not all Republicans believe in big government. I don't, and neither do the TEA party members of Congress. Were you talking about RINOs? :D

You are so right.  I hope that he does not get re-elected, because I don't think that he has a clue as to what to do.

No problem, my friend. I definitely think that the government is way too involved in our lives.
