combat nausea
« on: July 10, 2011, 05:30:11 am »
I have a real sensitive stomach so if I get upset, cry too long, very angry, scare etc I immedately get nausea.  I have a medicated pill I take for that put I wish I didn't have too.  I mean I've been on this pill for years and I'll have to live on the pill for the rest of my life.  I dont' really want too but I don't have a choice.  Anyone have a way to combat nausea without meds?  Like an herbal tea or something?

This may sound strange but try salt. I take Chantix to quit smoking and nausea is one of the side effects. I was advised to try a small amount of salt and it worked!!! Give it a try!!

Ive never heard that about salt but the standard for morning sickness used to be crackers.  I wonder if it was really the salt on the crackers  ;D

Ginger.  Drink ginger tea you can also get candied ginger.  There's over the counter nausea medicine Dramamine is the one that comes to mind but I'm sure there are others.  If you don't like to take medicine ginger is a natural way to prevent it.  There are also certain acupuncture points to help.  Try to control your reactions to certain situations if you know it's going to make you sick.

My wife is pregnant and she feels nausea all the time. I just got used to see or hear her vomiting. Her doctor suggested her to eat something like potato chips and lemon juice because the combination of salt from the chips + sour from the lemon helps when feeling nausea. I also agree with the candied ginger, this has helped my wife as well.

In my opinion, you should stay away from pills!!! That makes you dependent on them and in this case I'm pretty sure it's unnecessary.  I strongly suggest you to consult a psychologist because the problem resides on your feelings and emotions.

Hope it helps

Whenever I feel sick I eat saltines and sip on sprite or ginger ale. That usually does the trick for me.

Peppermint tablets work well. You can also try cranberry juice or cranberry tablets as well. All are natural ways to combat upset stomach. Hope this helps!
