How does beer keep you cool?  Does it dilate the arteries or something.

This is what I found so let us all have a beer.

Drinking any alcohol (including beer) causes the body to open up the little blood vessels in your skin. Dilated blood vessels lose heat faster -- out into the air from dilated skin blood vessels.

So while you feel warmer, your body heat is actually dissipating away from you -- causing your *core* body temperature to go lower. You may feel warmer, but you're actually getting cooler. You'll notice that as soon as you stop drinking, and your body metabolizes most of the alcohol left in you.

The problem is though that alcohol can dehydrate you and combined with intense heat can cause you to get in bad shape fairly quickly. Alcohol and sun and heat are a really bad mixture. If you have to, make sure you drink lots of water too.
