Well , the President mentioned the other night that it is not an uncommon thing for past presidents to do, but it all worries me. Cutting spending would be a great start!

They're trying to cut spending, but some big wigs don't want a sensible and fair bill to pass.

It was done on average every 5 months during Bush's time in office, and Reagan had it raised 18 times.

Let's raise the thing, cut spending, put revenues back to levels they were at in 2000, and watch how much that helps the government's debt.

It bothers me too.  So many americans are threaten not to get their paychecks.  We worked for so many years and I don't know how they can threaten us if the bill doesn't pass.  It is sad that this is the first time that the government Triple A rating will go down.  I think they should pass the debt ceiling bill and start building our credit again.  The whole world is watching this.  I wish the Dems and Reps would start to work together as a team. I sent some messages on twitter to our reps.

I think you're absolutely right some of them don't want this bill to pass and I also agree with veronica they should start building our credit again but not only because the whole world is watching but because we have the resources and the will to make it happen and I don't think Dems and Reps will ever work together, they see us as a piece of cake and everyone of them want it for himself they don't even want to share.
Its politics and I hate it

I think they will.  They will do something at the last minute.  I think it's totally ridiculous what's going on.  They do not want Obama to be reelected that's what's going on.  He is willing to compromise.  He wants to get things done but they want to fight him tooth and nail about everything and they are not listening to the people they are just doing it to win political points (so they think they are doing) it's ridiculous.  They are rich anyway and they want to keep it that way.  They don't care about what the consequences are to the majority of the the average person who are the working poor.  They are breaking our backs but they don't care as long as they can keep stealing and getting richer that's all they care about.

This political theater being played at the expense of our country as well as the world economy.
The efforts of the Republicans to deny a 2nd term to our President will stop at nothing to achieve their goal. It will all backfire on them as they are seen for what they are, no matter what the outcome of this skirmish is. Obama is the only adult in the room and I am confident he will do what is right for our country. He is not over a barrel, he will stand tall.
