Me too!  Since the sixties!  I tape it and watch it at night.  I've grown up with some of those characters.  It's so great to have the characters "live on", like Tom and Alice Horton, even though they are no longer with us.  And so fascinating to watch Alison Sweeney on Biggest Loser, then go watch her on the soap.

they are gonna carry OLTL on the internet in 2012 for a while.. i love that show!! hate to see it leave tv tho =( i grew up on soap operas! my grandmother loved them, and my mama does.. ahhhh sooo sad =(

I HAVE NEVER BEEN A PERSON WHO WATCHED SOAPS.  I THINK I WATCHED 2 DIFFERENT SOAPS YEARS AGO.  FOR ME IT WAS ALWAYS THE SAME STORY FORMAT, JUST DIFFERENT PEOPLE.  BORING.

when i was young my mother used to watch soaps regularly so i watch because that was the only thing on, she would never let you turn the channel, so i watched with her and it is very easy to get hooked, i guess because they live you in suspense till the next day.

I'm usually pretty partial to Irish Spring, but a the store the other day I saw that they had Dove for Men on sale, so I just had to try it.... I'm using more body washes now, too. I've got a forest green lufa in my shower; I just like the feeling of scrubbing myself raw (I guess the appropriate term is "defoliation").

One time I got in trouble, though, about soaps... I was at a babysitters house and her teenaged daughter would flip on General Hospital, against my mom's wishes. Well one day after picking me up and witnessing that us kids were sitting in front of the tube watching GH, I started repeating a line I had heard on TV: "Before you dress, Caress!" My mom almost had a fit, and immediately called the sitter about what I had heard on "one of those disgusting soap operas". The sitter had to explain that it wasn't the show that I had gotten that from, but from an ad for Caress soap.

As you can tell, growing up soap operas were taboo in our house hold. The closest I got was watching Twin Peaks... At first it started out like a mystery ("Who killed Laura Palmer?"), and since our family were mystery buffs ("Murder She Wrote", "Mystery!" on PBS, "Perry Mason", etc.) we started off as avid viewers. But as the series progressed and the viewers were introduced to "One-Eyed Jacks", the Canadian strip-club / brothel, my mother ixnayed that show as well...
