What kind of dog is this new pooch?  Is the dog housebroken?    Where did you get the dog - puppy farm, breeder or pound?   I also find rescue pets, and they seem to know that they have been rescued.

Sit them and sit the puppy down close to them enter act between the two. Be there to observe.

They recommend to keep animals separate for a week so they can get used to the other dog's smell.  But since you've already introduced them, I guess just give it more time.  They should be fine after a week or two.
