Table clothes

Do you use table clothes of any kind? I don't. I have a wood table and prefer the wood to show than to cover it. What are your thoughts?

I guess a tablecloth would be very practical if you wanted to hide the table top! :dontknow:

No table cloth for the table in the kitchen. But we always had one when we ate outside.

We have to use a tablecloth on our wood kitchen table....actually an oilcloth that is water repellent, when we use it.

It we don't, it gets water rings almost instantly if something wet sits on it.

We leave it bare when we are not eating...with a seasonal centerpiece in the center.

I prefer no tablecloth unless its a special occasion. They get to messy so we just use placemats.

I live in an apartment complex. The administration for the dining room uses a variety of colored table cloths for seasonal/holiday themes throughout the year. They have a long giant ironing roller machine to steam clean them every day.

I love tablecloths but with three kids they get messy after one use and it doesn't seem worth it. How do you feel about the clear vinyl coverings you can buy at fabric stores to protect them? Seems to defeat the purpose of having an elegant looking tablecloth, huh?

I have a table cloth. We also have the rings from drinks and some marks from really hot things that were set on the table without a trivet.  :( When it gets dirty, I just throw it in the washer with the napkins/towels.

I don't use table cloths but than again I am staying with my mom for right now.  My grandmother uses tables cloths when she is decorating for a special occassion other wise the table isn't covered and neither is my moms she has a wood table and it looks better than table cloths unless you got a theme going on and you are planning somthing special.
