Vtech is the way to go. Get more for the price and your child can learn at the same time.

I agree V-Tech is a great toy and you can buy the level of your child for years to come.  My granddaugther is six years old and she love leag frog and her Ninitieno DL, so I will invest in a leag frog learning game.  Yes, Yes, christmas is four months away.

Christmas can come and go, for it doesnt matter to me, because its not an important day to me! Yule is the significant date in December for us!

For your 2 year old I would suggest "old school" toys that foster creativity and imagination.  Large blocks they will not choke on, large piece puzzles, The old tupperware style game of putting the shapes in the holes can also help with coordination and constructive thinking skills while making it fun.  If you can handle noisy toys, get one that makes sounds when you do things the correct way so they get positive feedback and love to hear noises at that age or see things light up.

You should buy your 2 year old Moon Sand ! It's pretty fun to play with.
It's sand that's colourfull and you can mold it into shapes.Just be carefull that she doesn't eat any,i'm not sure it's toxic, just don't risk it.  ;D

I 2nd the Moon Dough or just plain old Play-Doh would work too. A big hit in this house was a book that "puzzle" pieces fit into that I picked up at Sam's Club. Blocks are a huge hit here as well. I personally see the Vtech items as a waste but I know that my child doesn't really play with things like that. Blocks, cars, Play-doh/Moon Dough, *bleep*, books, and play food are pretty much the only items that get played with at all. All of the more techno-savvy toys just collect dust. But every child is different. :)
