No.  Texting can be wonderful if properly used!

I like having texting on my cell phone.

In my family, we give each other quick texts
all the time.

It is nice to have a beep to know I have a text
that I can check when convenient rather than
the phone ringing

Although I share your frustration about texting I do not believe it should be removed from cell phones. Like all new technologies I believe texting has a place in our society. However there should be more controls i.e. parental controls as well as the option for you to remove it from your phone if you choose.

Although some people do abuse texting the majority of people used texting responsibly. The issue here isn't texting is being accountable for your actions and removing texting from a cell phone won't teach people to be responsible and accountable for their actions. :peace:

I think texting should not work while the person is in he car.   I sure texting was invented to help people not to make more trouble for us.

I agree with you, I think people use texting as an out and quite honestly some days I would much rather text then to have to carry on an actual convo w/some people - ya know the people who like to go on forever and ever. However I am at the point as well where I feel our world is just getting less and less personable

Texting can be a good thing. I use it all the time to send a quick messages to my boyfriend at work when I need him to do something or I am not going to be where I said earlier or a change in plans of picking him up, etc... Otherwise I wouldn't be able to get a hold of him at all.

We don't get rid of alcohol just because some people misuse it or are addicted to it. How is this any different. Texting should stay.

I prefer texting to voice mail. I have dumped voice mail off of my home because people were calling and leaving the same message on my cell and home phone or people were calling and not hanging up before the voice mail kicked in. For example:

On Wednesday I am going to be involved in some training. Usually the trainer likes us there a half hour before the training starts so we can map out how the training should proceed. He said the training would be at 4:00 o'clock but didn't say if that was the training time start or the arrival time. So, instead of calling him and leaving a voice mail, hope he has time in his busy schedule and a quiet place to check his voice mail and then call me back to leave a voice mail more than likely. If I didn't understand his voice mail or have more questions I would need to call him again.

With texting,  I sent him a text and  got a reply and followed up with a couple of questions in a shorter amount of time then trading voice mails.

I think texting helps me stay in contact and more updated with people. I also feel it enhances the times that we do have together face to face.
I was lying in bed the other night, looking up at the stars, and thinking, "Where in the heck is my roof?"

I prefer to text rather than talk so no the texting option shouldn't be removed because you got fired.

no employer should text u that you're fired, PERIOD! If they are professional as they say they are they will call u on the phone and talk to on there or call u in the office. people and their "not wanting conflict" *bleep* pissed me off.

I rather text than talk so I wouldn't want texting to be taken off cell phones. It is a bit distracting but I like it.
