Sometimes a couponb will make the name brand cheaper than the generic one.  I will naturally go that way.  I do buy some store brands, though.

I have found that some generics are as good as brands, but there are some generics that just can't beat brands.

generic   except when it comes to specialty things like sugar free  stuff tp soap   so i would say its a 7-3 ration where we buy more generics

I get store brands for some items, but  for a lot of stuff, they are inferior. As an example, the only salsa I buy is Tostitos. Nothing else can even compare.

for me, it depends on what type of product. cheap salsa and pasta sauce is terrible! i actually prefer cheap hotdogs though

For most things I get store brands.  I get very few packaged / processed items such as soup, mixes, etc.  I cook from scratch.  I use coupons that come in the junk mail and work with the sales ads.  I'm more picky with supplements and some toiletries, but that too is based partly on cost.  ;)

I'm about 50% generic and 50% name brand. It all depends on what coupons I can combine with sale items.

Do NOT buy CVS brand Nivea cream.  There is a huge difference, unlike with most CVS versions of products.  The CVS brand is very waxy and does not dissolve.

Yep, most store/generic stuff is just as good...in fact better, because it's cheaper.  For a couple of things where quality matters, like trash bags, toilet paper, and girly goods, I buy name brand.   ;D

a combo of both but if u look at the store brands vs name brands they are basically identical most of the time but sometimes half the cost!!!! Like maynose the other day it was 4 for the name brand and for off brand was 2.20 or something it was basically half the same size and exactly the same ingredients so yeah y not but store brand same thing

So many "generic" brands are made by "name brand" companies.  If you think about it a smart business is going to grab both the high end and low end of the market.  This is also true of gas stations.  Often gas is distributed to many locations by the same source.  All with different pricing structures.

I usually buy the store brand, more specific, Great Value from Walmart is my favorite.  But there are a few things that I prefer a brand name for, but there are few.  The money you save is so worth it.

We definitely are buying more generic these days than ever before. My husband would buy everything generic if I let him...lol. Like everyone else here, there are a couple of things that are definitely no-no's when it comes to generic but I find most everything else tastes just the same.
