Homemade means more to me because someone cared enough to make it for you.

A gift is a gift and it should be appreciated either way

A gift is a gift I really don't care where it comes from.

Both are thoughtful and either one is okay with me.

I love home made gifts.
I also make scarves and other craft items.. so I know the time that goes into hand made items. Yes it would be easier to run to the store and buy something.. but I feel that if it is made by hand.. that person that is receiving it.. will know that you spent time on making that for them.  And yes... your heart went into it.
Now do not ask my husband about that.. he will tell you go to the store and buy me something... lol
Go figure....

I agree, handmade items are filled with the artisans energy and love.  They are unique.  Anyone can go to a store and buy something.  Don't get me wrong, I appreciate receiving store bought presents, but I have more craft skills than money so I like to make custom presents.

Homemade gifts have always been important to me.  I quess one thing I really like is that no one has one just like what I have been given.  Another thing I really like is old stuff. My sister in law has always given gifts from antique shops.  She finds the coolest things, special old books, tools, kitchen stuff, home decor things.  I just love to open her gifts.

I would love either a store bought gift or hand made one, I guess it really means the same to me.  My daughter is always trying to figure out what I would really like by asking questions and keeping an eye and ear out when we go shopping.  She surprises me most of the time.

I agree with grame64.  I appreciate both kinds of gifts.

Myself, I like to give homemade gifts if I can.  But when I hear the kids (or get their "wish list") and see things that they really want, I try to find those things.

Knowing that I gave them something they like or want or need makes me feel good.

I'll take a gift from either source but I guess it depends on what the gift is as if I'd have a preference.....
Have a wonderful day!

I like both. It all depends on what I need or want. This year for my birthday I'm hoping to get several home made items from my brothers and sisters, because there are things I need that have to be custom made.
Even though I do crafts, I like giving store bought gifts, because it is a lot quicker to go to the store and buy something. And I feel like I'm being cheap if I make something instead of buying it.

I like either. I prefer giving homemade, but my family seems to prefer store bought.
