This was extraordinarily funny, even while stone-cold sober.  I may have been unable to catch my breath from laughing had I been inebriated.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

How effective do you perceive that effort has been?

I am GLAD that you realized that religion was created.

As  a Christian, I believe in God, but I don't believe in the church. The church is there to guide us and gives us advice as to living a good Christian life, but it does NOT bring you to heaven. Sometimes the church goes over the top and kick "bad people" out of the church or heavily criticize those that commit sinful things... which is not good. But we all have a freedom of choice, and we choose who to believe in, who to listen to, and whether or not we want to listen to criticism.

Indeed, all religions were created by man.  The conceptions of "god"(s) were also man-made in a process which evolved from nature-based phenomenon through the current versions.

As  a Christian, I believe in God, but I don't believe in the church.

If not based upon the "church", (or, by extension, a "bible"), may I inquire as to the basis of such a belief?

But we all have a freedom of choice, and we choose who to believe in, who to listen to, and whether or not we want to listen to criticism.

Yes we do; it's interesting that you mentioned choosing whether or not to listen to "criticism" regarding beliefs.  Some people abhor any questioning of their 'faith', some may have the fortitude to determine the validity of cherished beliefs for themselves, (rather than accepting them without question).  I'm asking out of curiousity, rather than as a prelude to debate.

I think man created religion. God created us to fellowship with Him. I have a relationship with God not a religion.

Your opinion is debatable.  What makes you hold such an opinion?

I think religion does play a part in helping people, but overall I think it's a scam and just a means to control people.

This is not my opinion I just asking a question.

***I think that religion was used to manipulate people and situations in the world at various times and places throughout the world. If everyone truly believed in the teaching of Jesus/God then why would there be war anymore or a starving child anywhere. We would share everything on the planet equally! Sounds good but each version of God/Buddha etc... was changed to maked the people who believe in that idol - the chosen ones! Funny how all the idols look just like the people who believe in them, thou.
***I went on a blind date onetime and dated a reborn Christian. Turns out she used to be a high priestess of a cauven(witches) and had a reawakening when she fell down a raven while hiking. She almost died so decided to change horses. She was very insiteful to me(as I am a Christian) but told me of the oldest testament of the Bible
,as being the one left out by most. Only the earliest ones have these chapters and very dark and evil passages.
Try Googling them sometime and maybe your ideas about what is shall change! Only a different view on a tough question - take care and God Bless even if there isn't one!!!

I believe religion was not originally created to control people.  To answer the question.

No I don't. I don't know If I would use the word 'created'. It's alwasy been there. For me, my faith gets me through the bad as well as good times.

I would; "religions" have been created at some point, none of them were always there.  For instance, several pagan religions existed well before there were any forms of xtianity.  For them, suddenly some plagiarizing 'cult' sprang up with a "religion" developing around some credulous beliefs.
