Are purebred dogs better than mutts?

Personally I feel that mutts far outweigh purebreds. I personally have never owned a purebred, only 5 mutts in the last 15 years or so, but my parents decided to only have purebred german sheperds for the last decade. Every single one of their dogs has had an issue as have several of my cousin's purebred labs. I think mutts are sturdier.

I don't know. Are purebloods better than mudbloods? sorry I'm a harry potter fan.

I don't discriminate :) I love all dogs and mixes like laberdoodles are adorable <3
however people will always think one is better over the other, that's why there are show dogs and etc.

Personally I love mutts AND purebreds.

I like purebreds and mutts, males and bitches alike.  ;) I personally don’t discriminate one is superior than the other as long as the owner provide love for them until the end of their life. Spaying/neutering them prevent breeding more unwanted pets and strays from being euthanized and unnecessary abuse. If people prefer purebreds, then consider only purebred dogs that are suitable to their lifestyle. No breed is particularly better than the other. Be sure to adopt them from the shelter.

I love em all!  For many years I had pure bred labs, but after rescuing one from a shelter, I then decided to rescue two mix breeds.  They are all wonderful dogs and I would probably never get a dog through any source but adoption now.  I don't have anything against breeders assuming they are responsible in how they go about placing the dogs.

Purebreds tend to have more health problems so I tend to stick with mutts

Having a purebred means that if that specific breed has any "downsides" then you will be having to deal with them, so you'd best have money to ensure their health is properly looked after and kept up with. Mixed breeds on the other hand are far less likely to have these types of "downsides" because of the way genetics work. They're less likely to have a predisposition for developing/being born with 'defects'. For example, my aunt has had pure bred poms before and had to have teeth removed so that the adult teeth would come in properly. This is common with poms as they tend to retain baby teeth. (Chows often have hip problems and/or develop frequent eye infections.) Mixed breeds can be a great choice, but so too can pure breeds. Educate yourself as much as possible on breeds before getting a dog (and if it's a mutt, try to find out what it is mixed with).

a dog is dog unless you are going to enter it into contests and breed it for money.

I think what ever dog you fall in love with is the best. You just need to decide on the size you want and if you care if it sheds or not. Just follow your heart when it comes to choosing and you cant go wrong. :dog:

Well I've only had "purebreeds" I've never thought about it, I don't think it makes a big difference though.

I've had both purebreds and mutts and I think mutts are stronger. I love them all kind of dogs and I don't care if they are purebreds or mutts though.

Pure breeds to me are highly tempermental.  Give me a mutt from the pound any day and it also saves a life.
