They were wearing sandals ? Ohh I see you've seen many Christmas plays  ;D that is just what people think they were wearing. Maybe they had no money to buy wool slippers ? I live in Texas and it never snows , it was probably a cold day at Bethlehem sometime during the winter season when Jesus was born. The real day doesn't matter, what matters is that HE was born, A King was born to save us ! Read John 3:16 - Merry Christmas !

The real day doesn't matter ...

Then why was it deemed necessary to co-opt the pagan solstice celebrations?

what matters is that HE was born, A King was born to save us ! Read John 3:16 -

What matters is that such religious beliefs have foundations in cultural thefts, dissembling, making claims without evidence and even that won't matter in the final analysis.

We celebrate the birth of Jesus in December because that is the day the three wise men found him.  We do not know how many days the three wise men follow the stars into Bethlehem to found baby Jesus.

Thanks for posting this.  As an atheist, I find Christmas to be hilarious because Christians take it so seriously.  Just be a good person.

If you really want to know what chrismas stands for you really need to research it because it will shock you.  Its acctually to pegan holidays that they combined into one and you are right Jesus wasn't born in December. We don't know the acctual day but the research I found was in the fall sometime because it got cooler at night that is why Mary and Joseph to cover in a barn or what ever that was called they had to travel to register where they where from and there is no way they would of made those poeple travel in the winter and it was cold. Do some research on where they were from and research where Christmas came from.  A lot of people know that Jesus wasn't born in December but it is good for the holiday to have Jesus in it so they can make money.  And if you read the bible it tells you better is the man after his death than his birth that is why it gives us when Jesus Died rather than when he was born.

We celebrate the birth of Jesus because, indeed it is based on pagan traditions (Winter Solstice) not because that's when the wise men found Him. The wise men came from somewhere in Asia, which was quite a distance and they actually didn't get to where Jesus was until He was around 2 years of age.

Personally, I don't think the "when" matters so much as the reason He came into this world....as long as we believe why, which I do!!

Here is a bit of information I found on Christmas and other holidays that we celebrate:

"The Magi are popularly referred to as wise men and kings. The word magi is the plural of Latin magus, borrowed from Greek μάγος magos, as used in the original Greek text of the Gospel of Matthew. Greek magos itself is derived from Old Persian maguŝ from the Avestan magâunô, i.e., the religious caste into which Zoroaster was born.

As part of their religion, these priests paid particular attention to the stars, and gained an international reputation for astrology, which was at that time highly regarded as a science. Their religious practices and use of astrology caused derivatives of the term Magi to be applied to the occult in general and led to the English term magic. Translated in the King James Version as wise men, magi meant 'sorceror'.
The same word is given as sorcerer and sorcery when describing "Elymas the sorcerer" in Acts 13:6–11, and Simon Magus, considered a heretic by the early Church, in Acts 8:9–13"

I don't think we really know for sure when he was born ... the fact is that he WAS born, he is GOD in the the flesh and he DIED for our sins and he ROSE from the dead and is ALIVE in Heaven right now.... The fact that we celebrate on December 25 doesn't matter if it isn't the exact date but that we set aside time to reflect and honor our Lord and Savior's birth.

I don't think we really know for sure when he was born ...

Or, even _if_ such a person was born.

the fact is that he WAS born,

A belief is not an established fact.

he is GOD in the the flesh

An unsupported belief is not an established fact.

and he DIED for our sins and he ROSE from the dead and is ALIVE in Heaven right now....

A bunch of completely unsubstantiated beliefs are not equivalent to facts.

The fact that we celebrate on December 25 doesn't matter if it isn't the exact date but that we set aside time to reflect and honor our Lord and Savior's birth.

It does matter because it wasn't just the date "set aside", it was a deliberate co-opting of pre-existing pagan celebrations which had nothing whatsoever to do with other religious beliefs.  Why should such thefts and lies be 'honored'?

Yep, unfortunately most of the 'believers' seem reluctant to actually debate and resort instead to baseless belief-opinions.

How could Jesus be born in the month of December? Because in December which is a winter month there was snow all over the ground. But when Jesus was born it was a warm sunny day  and Mary & Joseph were also walking around in their sandles.
Hey everyone man created a lot of things so the date of Jesus birth will always be what ever day we want it to be.
