Parking lot stop signs
« on: November 18, 2011, 04:29:40 pm »
I never really pay attention to them if no one else is around.  I think they just come into play when there is another vehicle but if not, I don't even stop.  How about you, do you take parking lot stop signs seriously?

Always take stop signs seriously, personally.  Though some of them make no sense and I've been tempted to run through those, I never do.

I too always obey the stop signs everywhere even in parking lots!! :)  In my experience if there is a stop sign in a parking lot then there is usually a crosswalk and people coming out of the store don't look as well as they should if there is a stop sign there. So I'm protecting people that don't pay attention. LOL

I walk to work I have almost been hit in the parking lot at work because people dont stop at the sign.  One person was my neice, she was so upset because if she had hit me she was worried her uncle, my husband would be mad.

i work in a strip mall and there are several stop
signs, but there's a security cop who keeps a close
eye on things. sometimes i "roll" through them if the
coast is clear! lol.

I always stop at stop signs even if no one is present. If I make certain cases exceptions this will create a bad habit for me. Seeing others not yielding annoys me.

I always stop.  Traffic laws aren't just for when there are other people around.

Some years ago I witnessed an horrific accident caused by someone who didn't stop at a stop sign in the mall. But even without that in the back of my mind, I always stop at the signs.
If you wouldn't run a stop sign on a street, why think it is OK in a parking lot?

Yep, always stop. If I didn't it would be my luck another car ran the stop sign too and we would crash. Also, they tend to be where people cross. I would hate to hit a kid that ran off from a parent. They are there for a reason.

I always stop.

I'd rather stop, then take the chance that a cop is near enough to see it.  Or worse, that someone comes barreling through right at that moment from out of nowhere and hits you (and considering how people drive in parking lots, it's quite probable).

They don't make stop signs and place them in random spots just to annoy drivers, you know.   :P

I try to stop at the stop signs as long as they have a purpose. However stores have stop signs every 10 feet for pedestrians to cross only and no other traffic. These types of signs bother me because if no one is present I may have to stop 6 times in a row just to get to a spot to park. A yield sign would be much more efficient in my opinion. I also follow the lines and don't drive through parking spaces to get to the exit a couple of seconds faster while cutting off traffic. This is one area that annoys me greatly since many people who cut through don't pay attention to those following the rules. I've almost been hit several times because some care was driving through the parking spots.

The purpose of the signs are so you will stop not just to roll through or go through if no one is coming that is just an accident waiting to happen I always stop I would not want to be the cause of someone being hurt
