I have 2 children of my own, but, I am currently taking care of my daughters best friend which is also 13 years old. I don't have legal custody of her although I do have Power of Attorney for her educational and Medical needs. It is more like she spent the night with my daughter in November of 2007 and just never went back home. I don't mind because I know she is safe and being taken care of. She was at my home for 3 weeks before her mother called to see if she was here but never even asked to speak to her daughter or about her well-being. She wasn't really abandoned but more like neglected. She still has contact with her mother but prefers being here with us as does her mother. We have all grown on each other as though she were blood related. I wouldn't change a thing!

Bless your heart, I would but I just don't have the means...

Well...I would take them in, but also try looking for a better home for them since I'm still a student xD THe thing is, we all say we would take them in, but how many of us really do in reality? Children are still wandering the streets, beggars are all over, in a nutshell, poverty is still a growing problem.

ya there alot of children out there who need help and when i took in the 4 it was hard, VERY HARD. I was barely getting by with what i had for myself but I did It. And even though i struggled as much as I did with no help from anyone I could actually say I'd do it all over again. I love kids and kids have no fault in the decisions their parents make but to see the looks on their faces when they know they wont have to be split up or for a birthday party they never had its priceless. These kids never really even got real christmas presents or birthday presents, they never sat down at a thanksgiving or easter dinner as a family. Before they came with me their holiday dinners were mcdonalds or pizza. It was just sad. No kid should live like that.

I definatly would not want the kids going to a foster home so yes, I would take the kids in and get another job if I had to. I've known too many kids who grew up in foster care, and it saddens me to see them get moved monthly. I would do what I had to, to make sure the children were well taken care of and had a safe home to go to.  :(

Yes, most definitely...in fact I am thinking of fighting for my baby cousin...she's in a terrible situation between her dad, mom, and mom's mom [[grandmother]] and it seems none of them actually care what she is going through, or who tosses her around...she's already been abandoned by her mother once, and she's 5 it's absolutely ridiculous!!!
So since none of the other members of my family are willing to interrupt their lives, and step up to the plate I have been praying about it....and if that is what God calls me to do I am all for it!!!

I am 22 and I think it's pretty sad that the members of my family are so selfish, but I love my baby cousin and she would be better off here anyway!!

If you don't try to save one life; how can you expect to save any?

I would do it.  Even though I have four of my own.  We just cant see to have a compleate stranger take care of other family members kids.  We like having a big family.  The more the merrier.

i think that would depend on whether or not someone else was offering to take them.. AND on the situation in particular.. i couldn't just flat out say no though. if they needed somewhere to go, i would most definitely take them..
