unless i have somewhere to be, i see those few
extra minutes (or that extra hour) as money $$$ !
i agree that it's frustrating when you're mentally
prepared to get the heck out of there and then
you're stuck... but just think of your paycheck

What a great problem to have in these days of no job. Remember, you are there to help the company make money. Treat your job as if you owned the company and maybe one day you will. :)

Thus far it seems that the feedback on this one is opposite of the desired responses. Isn't it great! Sometimes we want to complain about things and our listener(s) gives us an opportunity to see how fortunate we are. Really, it is a great thing to have a job to complain about when there are so many who have none!  Have fun smiling the next time your boss gives you an opportunity to stay late and make more!

Overtime is great for those that want to work it or employers that offer it.

At a past employer I was asked to complete certain tasks before my shift was over. If I didn't complete all the tasks in time I was told to clock out and then do the rest of the tasks. Just because you stay late doesn't mean you get overtime. I know legally you should but many employers find ways around the system and the people who work there don't feel they have a voice or a choice to go elsewhere. At the same employer I also didn't get any breaks not even for lunch because no one else could supposedly take over for me. When I told a manager that I wasn't getting breaks and they said "some people just can't handle this job." I'm glad it is in the past and I only worked there for a couple months but where I quit I was looking for work for several months but I couldn't take the stress of working there and trying to find a new job. I was crying by the end of each day and starving myself and working myself to death.

This is an extreme example but I hope it shows that just because one is employed doesn't mean that they are in a better place than you. Employment is not always better than being unemployed. Both sides should get a right to complain once in awhile =)

Yes exactly I have never had a break !!!! Yes I a delivery driver and I do go out and deliver pizza but this is still working I am looking up directions in the car navigating delivering coming back working in the store cutting pizzas, answering phones, helping customers, doing dishes, sauces, folding boxes then back out to delivery I mean I can do this for 10 hours and I never get a chance to sit and eat, or go to the bathroom a lot of the times and its just not fair. I will ask my boss can I run to get something to eat and he will say after this delivery then its after the next and next and i never get that chance !!!!
