how much money will you be spending on Christmas this year
« on: December 13, 2011, 08:30:03 pm »
I normally spend around 500-600 dollars on an average year. I think this year because of things being more expensive, I will be spending around 700-800 this year. I normally have a Christmas dinner with family and that will bring up the cost also because of the higher food pricing.

Does it really matter what you spend ? The season is about love and family. Sure giving gifts is part of it but giving of yourself is worth more that money.

Christmas is about love and family, but I give myself all year round. My family is most important. I do love to buy them gifts tho. I've spent 1,500. so far on my husband, daughter, and parents. And probably about 60. on my pets, who are like my kids, too....lol. Pretty much done shopping, except for a couple things, and some stocking stuffers, oh yea and Christmas dinner. I guess that will be a total of about 2 grand all together. Didn't add it up until now. Good thing I'm not doing co-workers or friends this year.

There is an old movie called Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the movie he is talking about this alien and he says, "If it breathes we can kill it" and I say to your question "If it's green I can spend it." That's how much I'll be spending this year.

I don't buy Christmas presents.
I give every other time of the year.
If I have something or find something somebody needs, I give it to them.
It's about giving "freely".
 I don't "schedule" a "time of giving".

I'm spending $200 ($30 or less per present) at the most for presents for my family (no kids, parents, sibling, grandparents, friends, husband). My husband and I buy presents separately for our family and then just write the others name on the present. That way I don't have to get separate presents for all his family and mine. My husband may spend another 200 at the most. As for food it isn't much more than just buying our normal groceries probably only $40 more than what we might normally spend on food. Although we don't host the dinner each year. We visit his family and mine and make some contributions to each if they want us to. Oh and this year I spent about $30 on gift wrap and Christmas lights. Trip up to see his family and mine probably about $60 for gas and a bit of food for the trip.

$530 in total at the most.

I never realized how expensive Christmas can be and how much others are spending.
At least the total is half for me since my husband and I split the total.

Not gonna worry about spending too much money on Christmas this year. Don't have it to spend anyway and I refuse to let the holidays stress me out this year. What God provides is what I am gonna be happy with. I am spending time with my family more than spending money.

I pay for Dad's dinner.  We tend to forget the true reason for the season :peace:

I will be spending a lot! But I wait until everything goes on sale the day after Christmas.

I spent between $250 and $300 this years on Christmas presents.  I cut down some and I am going to be out of work almost 3 months having a knee replace in January.  Everyone pray for me that I will not have any trouble.  May God bless each of you.
