Ear Aches
« on: December 14, 2011, 09:04:00 am »
Does anyone know any good remedies or treatments for ear aches? I have had one for about 2 weeks along with a sore throat on that side. The ear ache is always the worst in the morning when I first wake up, kind of fades throughout the day, but will randomly have surges of pain. My throat was only sore for about 3 days and hasn't acted back up yet (knock on wood). Any ideas what will help the ear?

Use a hot water bottle or heating pad and lay your ear on it or you can take a cup of hot water and hold it to your ear.  It may not cure the underlying problem but it helps with the pain.

also try an immune booster...it can really help you to get better. there is a lot of immune boosting teas. that is easiest for me.

The worst thing in the world, at least to me, is a bad ear ache. I don't get them that often, but when I do I usually drink something warm. I'll also get some kind of cloth and wet it down with some warm water and place it on the affected ear and rest it there till it gets cold. I would not try wax candles. My mom thinks they work but they never worked for me.

My mother always poured vitamin E oil in my ears & shoved a cotton ball in to keep it from leaking. It feels gross, but always seemed to help after a few days.

I get them all the time, even had to have tubes put in my ears.  I actually have two ear infections right now I had to go to the doctor he gave me a shot and ear medicine but occassionally I will pour proxide in there to boil the ear infection out you can even feel it bubbling.

Yes there is something over the counter called Similason  Earache Relief its a Homepathic soothes and calms, safe for use with antibiotics.  This stuff works better than anything the doctor can give as a perscription.  I keep this stuff on hand all the time.  Best you will ever find.  Can be bought just about any were.  Merry Christmas.

A drop or two of Olive oil sometimes works. The homeopathic remedy Similasan is a better option.

When you have an infection, you must go to the doctor, because infections will not heal, without antibiotics! It's okay to use homeopathic medicine along with antibiotics to help you deal with your symptoms! You can use a heating pad when you are lying down! Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I always use heat but ear aches are hard to treat basically just gotta give them time, try to prevent them in the future by covering them in the cold, keeping them cleaned out, I use ear candles a lot they keep them cleaned out of old wax.

Definitely try the sweet oil. Warm it first before putting it in your ear. First of all it's comforting and second it softens the wax in your ear which is aggravating the sensitive ear. Also, get yourself some saline (sea salt water) and use it on your sinuses. It will keep you out of infection caused by the nasal drip. I have avoided both for the last two years using this two methods and I am susceptible to both ear infections and sinus issues.  Good luck!
