Westboro Baptist
« on: January 16, 2012, 05:33:00 pm »
Well, the Westboro Baptist Church is protesting a soldier's funeral in my hometown Wednesday.  I was going to dress up like a big gay biker and hug them as I film. Any better ideas?

Rent a Roman Centurian's uniform, complete with sword.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Actually I like both ideas, perhaps you can contrive some blend of the two and try that approach.  If you had to pick one though I think the former would have the greater chance of causing annoyance to those Westboro crazies.  I hope you do this and if so let us know what happens please.

They're both good ideas, but I like the biker one better. Something really needs to be done about this group.

One possibility might be to "protest" at the funerals of members/family of that Baptist church.  Perhaps outfitted in black robes, as Church of Satan members?

What would or signs say? "Satan loves soldiers?"

Hopefully the group that forms a barrier between the protesters and the families will be there for a buffer.  I guess there is no law against being a horrible person.

If they aren't going to be more creative; maybe, "Jesus loves you - everyone else thinks you're an a**hole"?

Who does this 'oreo' buffer group consist of?

No however, there may be applicable laws concerning such persons doing something horrible.  In this instance, if the baptists' "protest" at a funeral is protected free speech, (dependent upon court rulings), then a protest at a baptist funeral would be protected as well.

I'd like to see the baptists try blocking a counter-protest, so would a litigation attorney.

It's a shame that a "church" full of people could be so ignorant. Happy protest against the protest!

Protesting a funeral? This is not good.

Maybe they read this forum ... or injunctions?
