Do you think that 18 year olds should be able to drink alcohol?

18 seems too young. Although it doesn't stop many. Alot of responsibility is establised after 18. so 21 seems more appropriate.

Absolutely not, way too young and immature to handle the consequences that come along drinking and driving.  I lost my god sister to an under aged drunk driver.  So her 3yr. old daughter is left without a mother all because an immature teenager decided drink and drive.  A persons life can never be replaced, wait until your 21 or don't drink at all.  I am 29 and I choose not to drink because it's just not worth it.

I can think of many reasons that would point to no, but... At the same time this country feels that 18 is old enough to be shipped overseas and die in the name of freedom soooo... I'm not really sure what the right answer is here. Tricky subject to say the least!

I feel they haven't lived enough & had the same experiences just a few more years could help with.  From 18-(maybe 25) or a few years older, we all feel like we are invincible when we drink. That is until we crash and burn for driving drunk because we all think we can do it at that age.  We shouldn't let a 18yr old throw his life away from possibly killing someone else while driving drunk. I feel 21 isnt that far away of an age to go to have to drink.  Granted 18 is legally an adult and you can do so much stuff that can harm anyone including themselves like smoking and whatnot but to let even more people who are immature drink and then have them think they can drive is not right.  It sucks for the ones that know better but thats how it always goes.  Just one has to ruin it for everyone.  Just my opinion.

No, I think that 18 is too young.  The few years difference helps with the level of maturity, so I think that's important, especially for safety of people on the road.

Probably, because they are legally an adult and responsible for their actions. If a bar or nightclub doesn't want teenagers they could always have a 21 and over to enter rule.

i did when i was that age and younger and i will tell you this i started off slow and picked up drinking very  strong and i regret it now it took my 6year old waking me up and handing me a beer and a shot of vodka and she told me here mom you need this more then you need us that was it for me yes i drank again but was in my 30s before picking up a drink but i am proud to say i quit 8 years ago and haven't pick any type of drink since then i don't even think about it anymore and i did it all by my self no aa or programs so i am happy.  if you want to do something bad enough you can just put your mind into it

18 is not mature enough to handle the results of alcohol! when your 18 your brain is not even finnished developing yet. when your 18 you think you know it all and mixing drinking with that makes trouble.

I feel 18 might be a little to soon. Remembering back when I was 18, did a lot of dumb thing when I was sober nevertheless being intoxicated. unprotected sex, driving, other illegall substances because it let's down self control. I also believe unwanted pregnacies comes form drinking to early by unwise teenagers.

Oftentimes, 21 (or 61), is still too young for some people to drink 'responsibly'.  Goverment cannot legislate responsibility so, a somewhat arbitrary age limit , (loosely corresponding to other age-based obligations and options), was drawn.

To me it would seem that if you had to drive to where you're going to be drinking, you shouldn't expect to drive back drunk.  If you do expect that, you're an idiot who likes to endanger themselves and others - no matter what age you happen to be.

Personally, I think 18 is too irresponsible to be the legal drinking age. I agree with the argument "If 18 is old enough for people to go to war then they should be able to have a cold one when they're done" is a good argument, but then again I think 18 is too young for people to join the military. 21 might be too young and people might be too immature at that age, but it's better than 18.

If they don't want to change the legal drinking age to 18 then they need to change the age that a person can SIGN up to DIE for their country.
