Verizon DSL Anyone????

So I have had some problems accessing some surveys. One of the big ones is the giveusyour2cents surveys. I click on the link on the Fusion Cash homepage and it just keeps loading and never connects. Some of the other surveys I just get an error. Most of them I can access though. It's just a few that I can't.  This happens on every computer in my house and I have tried different browsers, disabling firewalls, connecting directly to my modem, and anything else I can think of. I went to a relatives house who does not have Verizon DSL and magically I can access the surveys. Does Verizon block certain websites or something? Does anyone else have Verizon DSL and have this happen? Or is there an expert in this field and can tell me what's going on? I guess my next step would be to call Verizon......great.

That sounds like a DNS issue at Verizon.  DNS is that piece of the web infrastructure that converts the familiar URL, such as yahoo.com, into it's IP address so that your modem will 'talk with it'.  You could try reconfiguring your router to use someone other than Verizon for DNS lookup. Try doing some research on "Open DNS".

I have several friends who decided to change over to the Verizon service because it was cheaper and all but one of them got rid of it because of the exact problem (and more) that you are having. If I were you, I would be calling Verizon and 'demanding' either a solution or some money back!

Thanks so much!! I ended up calling Verizon.....grrrrr......I hate doing that because I can never understand them. Instead of my computer obtaining a DNS Server Address automatically, he gave me a DNS Server address to type in and use. He said that the surveys required a more secure connection and they weren't being let through on the other one. Everything works good now, but I will definitely be done with them as soon as my contract is up. Thanks for your help!!

You're very welcome! I'm glad you got it straightened out, but I honestly think Verizon needs to clue new customers in as far as this problem and all the other kinks they haven't worked out. From what I have heard, it has an entire list of things it just won't 'do'.

Thanks for posting this problem.  Verizon has been after me to convert my cable ISP to Verizon and I've been saying "no" for a variety of reasons.  This is another reason for me to stay away from them.
