Misleading Surveys Regarding Time And/Or Topic
« on: February 03, 2012, 12:15:57 am »
I don't know if anyone else has had this same experience or they just accept it as fact, but I just took my first survey here. It was the purported 5-minute "snack survey," which took well over 1 hr and a half for a friggin buck! This was no quick 5 minute survey about whether I like beer nuts or chips either, but went on and on and on about canned meat, frozen meat, refrigerated meat, then just when I thought it was over, they start asking me about cars...how I paid...how I get them repaired...do I own any rec vehicles. Holy shizzz!

Come on, man...either FusionCash is not verifying the validity of the surveys these marketing companies pass on to them and just posting them as-is, OR these unscrupulous marketing companies are making out like thieves by stuffing as many surveys as they can into seemingly short 5-minute-snack-surveys. I noticed the marketing Co JD Powers does this a lot in their surveys, and I think it's really sneaky and unethical business practice.

Many years ago, real marketing companies used to pay actual people to come in as part of a focus group and pay the individuals around $40-$50 for a couple hrs time - That was an average pay-out for giving an honest opinion. Now, with the proliferation of the internet and everyone trying to find a way to earn a quick buck, these marketing companies via paid-survey-sites can charge a mere fraction from what they used to pay back in the day. It is what it is, but I wish the survey companies would scrutinize these surveys - better yet, take the survey themselves and see if it truly is a '5 minute snack survey' and worth a petty buck.

I swear...I almost blew a gasket in my head after the first hr passed! 1 buck for 5 minutes? 90/5 min = $18 bucks by my estimation.  ;)

I work for a market research company and recruit focus groups. We pay between $75 and $200 for a one to three hour focus group. But it usually is not easy to qualify for one. Sometimes people spend 15 to 20 minutes on the phone with us and do not meet the profile. And they get no compensation for the screening.

Regarding surveys. I have never qualified for a Fusion Cash survey because I work in market research but other members do. Some have good experiences and some bad. I am glad that you did get your $1 credit but one and a a half hours is a really long survey. I can imagine your frustration especially since you were told it would take something like five minutes of your time. It could be that the average person taking your survey requires less time. Maybe you had a lot of yes's to the beginning questions which led to many additional questions. What survey was this or what survey company?

Every so often, other sites allow me to take a survey. It is not often and I am always so glad when I qualify. Mostly they are correct in amount of time and subject. There have only been a few that seemed much longer than I expected. And it did drive me crazy.  I thought "will this ever end".

I like it best when there is a bar telling me what percentage of survey I have completed.

I hope that other FC members will respond to your post regarding surveys they have taken. Some have had very good experiences with the surveys.

I know is frustating when a survey indicates that's going to be an x amount of time but it's not accurate and you end up wasting a lot of time for low money.

I agree wasting time is no fun. Especially when you wind up spending an hour or so for no credit. Very frustrating. But I am sure FC has very little control of these circumstances.

I completely get what you are saying.  When you read five or ten minutes - even when a survey ends up taking half an hour - you feel like someone was conning you.  Often, the five or ten minutes is simply spent doing the qualifying questions!  Then, the real survey begins!
End the suffering!  Get your cats - and all strays and ferals - spayed and neutered!

Eventually you will qualify for a survey, but the real money comes from just staying with it.
1) Do the 2-cent email every day.
2) Make sure you get the full 5 cents for your searches.
3) Do the Paid to Click so you can get 15 cents a day.
4) Post on the forum.
5) Put a banner ad on your website.
6) Fill out the referral e-mails and send your link to friends and family. CAUTION: No spamming!

All of these things together will build up your account. NOT fast--it's a process. Be sure to check out all the offers. There may be some you are interested in. I wanted a VISA debit card and got credited $2 for that. Just hang in there. Don't expect too much, too soon, but it DOES add up. And can't say it enough--watch the video tutorials made by Old Buddy. They are a great resource. Good luck!
