This news is extremely sad. I wouldn't say I was a huge fan of hers (I didn't follow her career specifically at least) but I did like several of her songs and it was hard to hear about her struggles with her addiction and her abusive marriage. With all the news buzzing around how she died, what I do know is her quality of life could have been a lot better if she had found an out for these vices a long time ago. Of course, once your in, its incredibly hard to get out. Whether this is drug related (like Michael Jackson) or not, it should teach us all a few lessons. First off, we need to value our short lives and make sure the ones we care about know that we care about them. Second, if you are not dealing with an addiction, please don't experiment with anything that could start it. So many people who think they have it under control really don't, and it leads to stories like these. Third, even with problems, people can achieve great things. As long as you are still alive there is chance for a light at the end of the tunnel. We need to strive to do our best at all times.

Again its hard for such a household name to suddenly blink out of existence. We can all ask why until we are blue in the face, but what is important is what we do with ourselves right now. :crybaby2:

I was so sorry to hear about her death.  What a waste of good talent, and at such a young age!  I hope and pray that young people will not try drugs, so that they don't get hooked on them.  I pray that more young people will start going to church to learn the right way to live.

It hit me only for the fact that so many famous people are dying nowadays at younger ages.  Its crazy how its happening whether is being sick, drugs, etc.  Just crazy to think about. I also did like some of her music.

Whitney Houston is a celebrity I've somewhat have followed for a long time and when a friend informed me about her death last night I was shocked. She might not have made an impact on my life as Michael Jackson, but I am sadden still of her passing.

She had a family, a career, a daughter to be a mother to, yet she still chose Xanax. What does that tell you?? I am not suprised at all, she probly planned it that way, right before the Grammys.

I can see her saying: "Oh yes, their gonna remember me now, who I was. I'm Whitney Houston! A Diva! I deserve it all!" "So, I will show them how much I still deserve it all."

.....Then she takes her pills to numb the pain of regret and loss, and passes out-forever.

Death is the easy way out for some addicts. They feel they have failed life or have nothing left to live for, or that no one cares for them, and that's some selfish BS. (ie Whitney Houston.)

Whitney had a choice, and despite her religious upbringing (which is also BS), becoming clean for a while, and closeness to her family....she chose Xanax.

When you're depressed you're not thinking about all that, trust me I know first hand.  You just don't care, you just feel bad.  Drugs don't remove the cause of the depression, they only hide the symptoms.  If you feel that bad get help and figure out why, please.  :crybaby2:

I suspected she died when I heard that they did a tribute to her at the Grammy's, but I hadn't heard for sure.  I've never really been a fan.

I thought it was very sad when I read that she had passed.

Such a beautiful talented woman who sadly allowed drugs to destroy her
career and eventually herself.

I was never a big Houston fan. It seems my husband may have been back in his youth.  Since her passing he's filled me in on details about her as he comes across them online.  I do think it's a crying shame that one can have everything...(as far as fame and fortune go) and yet something is missing to the point drugs and alcohol become a crutch.  So sad.
