I am so thankful to have just paid them off this past year.  It took me over 11 years to pay them off and that was with me paying double the amount every month to get there.  What a burden, but a necessary burden as it helped establish my career.

Taxpayers are on the hook currently for over 1 trillion in outstanding student loans...
There are only 10 types of people in the world:  those who understand binary, and those who don't.

I took computer operations cert. classes one year before I had my daughter, who is now 19 years old I just paid them off last year.  Just to let you know that I did deferred the loan about eight years.  If you are paying with small payments it will take along long time.

I was lucky enough to finish college without any outstanding loans. I had heard horror stories about getting them paid off and did all I could to keep away from them!

I am close to graduating. I have no idea how long it will take for me to pay off my student loans.

I graduated in Dec of 2005, started in on my loans around May of 2006 and I'm under $2k. I could have had them paid off a bit ago but I have such a low low interest rate like 1% and we have ten years to pay them so with that money I have paid off my car, bought a condo, had to buy a new tankless water heater and I'm down to one credit card. Think it's been a pretty fair trade although I do hope to have the credit card and loan paid off by the end of this year

I had help with my college, but did take out two student loans for about $10,000. One of the biggest was for $8,000 and it was through Wells Fargo and it was to study abroad in Spain for a summer. It was considered a personal loan, and I could not get tax deductions on it unfortunately. That was in 2006, and I have one loan paid off, and the other is under $5,000. I am excited. However, I got so much great experience and especially the one to study abroad in spain. I would not have changed that experience for anything.

I have not been able to pay on mine.  I graduated in 2008 and I have been getting a hardship defernment because I can't work.  If I can get a doctor to actually put it on paper the government will wipe it clean, but no luck in accomplishing that.  Even if you get on social security disability that isn't enough even though its hard to get done and they base it on your medical records I think that should be enough but it isn't.  I believe I owe over 16,000 in loan debt and I have no idea how I will be able to pay that back.  My husband and I live off of his SSI check which is about $674 month and I can't pay anything not even the interest that just isn't enough money to live off of.

I've on the 10 year plan for student loans with most of them consolidated into one, but I'm doing my best to pay off a little more than need each month so that I can hopefully finish faster! It's not always easy with all the other bills I have to pay!
