The Price of Gasoline
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:50:48 am »
Gasoline prices are going through the roof. I hate to think what we will be paying in a few months. Are you conserving gasoline ? Making fewer trips or changing plans ? How are you dealing with these outrageous prices ?

The funny yhting is that 4 of our very few (thanks to the democrats) gas refineries have been shut down for "repairs" at the same time. Plus for the first time they are selling more gas to other nations while we have a "shortage". :BangHead:

I don't do anything with the way gas prices the way they are I just go to school twice a week and then come home.. My son hates the fact that we don't do much of anything but kinda hard with one income coming in and not having much money to do something.

My husband told me he heard it was going to be $4 - $5 per gallon this summer.  I'm not sure where he got that information but the site he read it on advised that summer vacations be held off till fall.  We've already cut back in every possible way as it is.  I'm not sure how else we scrunch numbers and time down any more.  It's absurd to think that there are some Americans working 40 + hrs. a week...2-3 jobs and in the end we're spending more in gas to get to the jobs than what the paychecks are.

I'm combining trips and avoiding using the car, except for work and church.  Really a pain, especially when you need something.  What are you gonna do? :dontknow:

My family not only cut back on the driving, but cut back on the number of vehicles in order to conserve our fuel. The gas prices are absolutely ridiculous anymore! It always gets worse before it gets better, I'm afraid.

I have already grounded one of my vehicles (truck) because the gas prices are so high. The only thing I use it for is to Remove Large items that need to go to the Dump. I was just looking at my Oil status. I last Changed the Oil in september 2011 and just broke 1000 miles since then. I need to get it in for some maintenance but, keep on Procrastinating, I don't know if I want to keep it. My other car we try to combine trips now and it gets about 21 around town and 28 on the hwy. We are now trying to conserve that way. I am almost glad I retired in 2010, I couldn't keep up with the prices now, especially when I drove about 150 miles a day round trip.

How do all of you "fair share" proponents feel about paying your "fair share" on fuel bills?  It isn't as fun when you are the rabbit and not the hunter is it?
There are only 10 types of people in the world:  those who understand binary, and those who don't.

I don't ever really plan on changing my driving habits. I drive a car that gets about 40 miles to the gallon and only have to gas up a few times a month. I have other necessities that cost me way more.

What makes me so angry is the govt uses Iran and middle east problems to try and explain away why our gas prices are so high. The freakin refinerys are the problem. Everyone wants to blame the crude oil providers but the real problem is the refinerys and the greed that abounds... It's not a political problem... it's a greed problem!! It exists in more than just this scenario and it's getting worse day by day, month by month, year by year... Kinda makes me sad in a way.... Greed sucks!!  :angry7: :BangHead: :angry7:
