The impression was given that such from 'devil-worshipping satanists' or, Santeria perhaps would be as appreciated.

One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

If you actually did "know" any such thing, there would be evidence supporting such contentions.  If those contentions do constitute a "promise", the mythical promiser is an oath-breaker, (these were known as warlocks, in the ancient sense of the word).

The Lord sure didn't bless you with an abundance of "tact", did He?  ::)

Since there is zero evidence of such a 'being' existing to "bless" anyone with anything, the question has no valid meaning.  Any tact I possess, I came about honestly.

There's zero evidence of you possessing any tact...honestly.
This thread was posted in "Off Topic" and NOT in d&d.  The OP is a long-time FC member and it's obvious she's going through a very difficult time.  This member has quite often posted posts that have been very nice for her to share.  When it's obvious someone is hurting and other FC members care about her & wish to help---for someone to be there "questioning/mocking" them has about as much tact as the Westboro members that show up and protest at funerals.  Please be more considerate, I know you can be.  Thanks!! :)

James 5:16  "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

There's no valid evidence to support such a claim therefore, it is a false claim.

You have committed an Argumentum ad ignorantiam here by claiming something must be false simply because it hasn't been proven true.  Furthermore, your posting in this thread can be nothing more than a hateful attempt at the OP (even if you didn't reply to them directly).  I am not the most proud man, but even I wouldn't kick someone when they were down, and I sure as hell wouldn't spit on them if they begged for a drink of water.  Why don't you go find any sick puppies or kittens to kick around if you feel so insecure to have to prove yourself.
There are only 10 types of people in the world:  those who understand binary, and those who don't.

May God bless you & your family in your trouble times. I have prayed for you & your family and will continue. Your prayers are being taken care of as we speak (or write) so don't give up;just keep believing that things will change for the better. :angel12: Try and have a beautiful day.

For the record, I like falcon.  If I could have messaged what I posted earlier in private, I would have done so.  Understandably FC doesn't allow that.  It wasn't my intention for others to get mad at him, I was just trying to drop him some "hints", give him a "heads up".  It's not his style to be deliberately mean to anyone in the forums--- I'm quite sure he didn't mean any harm.  I know he tends to pound out alot of posts in a hurry and I think it's possible he read the thread title and didn't realize this wasn't a d&d thread (especially since there's a d&d thread in progress on the topic of prayer).
Anyway...out of respect for the OP (tigerlilly), please everyone focus on prayers for her and no "falcon-bashing".  :peace: and  make the world a BETTER place!!

While I may have been less than 'tactful' in this particular thread, the assumption of zero evidence of "any tact" would be a dishonest one.

This thread was posted in "Off Topic" and NOT in d&d.

True however, a contentious topic, (specifically, 'prayer'), was posted as "off topic" and this does not preclude dissent or discussion of it.

Thanks!! :)

As you no doubt have determined by now, I do not consider 'prayer' to constitute "help" and delineated why I hold such a position.  This does not preclude an awareness of a difficult situation, nor support for the OP getting useful help.  "Tact" can often be a subjective term with fuzzy parameters encompassing other vague terms such as 'politeness' and what is 'tactless' or 'impolite' to one may not be to another's perceptions.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

It's not his style to be deliberately mean to anyone in the forums--- I'm quite sure he didn't mean any harm.

No deliberate "harm" was intended by replies made in regards to 'prayer'.  I simply meant that useful assistance for the unspecified problems would be more effective than general superstitious well-wishings.

I know he tends to pound out alot of posts in a hurry and I think it's possible he read the thread title and didn't realize this wasn't a d&d thread (especially since there's a d&d thread in progress on the topic of prayer).

On the contrary, I tend to give thoughtful consideration to content rather than simply pounding out a lot of posts in a hurry.  Be that as it may appear, the responses made fit within an "off topic" thread as well as the subforum of D+D.

prayer provides hope, faith, and many times changes events.  Just because you can't prove it doesn't make it false.  Lives have been saved because of their faith from praying.  It may only be psychological, or it may be from the spirit.  Neither you or I can say which is responsible.
