I think it comes from lowered expectations and laziness on the part of parents and teachers. I say this even though I am a teacher myself. It drives me crazy to hear about teachers who allow their students to cuss and show disrespect, with no consequences, because following through with discipline is seen as too much trouble. And don't get me started on the parents who scream at any teacher who calls them about their child's misbehavior!!!

Haha...when I was in 10th grade my boyfriend at the time (who was 15) was caught with marijuana, and a pipe at school...after getting in a fight. Well, the school took it pretty seriosuly, called his mother, and she told them she didnt give a s*it about it and they were bothering her by calling. Cussed out the person that called, did not punish the kid in any way. Well, I spoke to him not long ago, and now he is 23, still living at home with mom & dad, no driver's license, no job, no friends or girlfriend, a total pothead...and he's a complete a-hole that thinks the world owes him something. Great job mom.

It all comes down to the golden rule. Respect them, there's a better chance of them being respectful. So stop blaming the kids and blame whoever made them that way.
Plus, their brains aren't even fully developed, how do you expect them to act like people who's brains are?

I rarely come across disrespectful kids.  The only kids I meet that are disrespectful are the ones that have parents that are just too lazy to teach them better.

Yes these children are so disrespectful but it's in the prophecy that kids will be lovers of their kind and killers of their parents. It's sort of like a curse on this generation.

They need prayer because the old way of knocking them out - - they might kill you so...we all need to take psychology classes to learn how to get to their mental. Eventhough I'm sorry, I'm old fashioned and I believe the way I raised my sons the old fashioned way is the reason they are in college, respectful and positive. I still believe in the old way eventhough others think it's behind the times and not effective. Nothing wrong with the old "whipping"!

yes i agree that lack of discipline is the problem. kids that receive no consequences think they can do anything an get away with it.  so take my advice and beat them when you have the time.

Yes, in a way I agree with it has to do with the lack of discipline.  But I also think what is found acceptable or not has to do with the generation that the kid in question grew up in and how they were raised.  As I was growing up having a belt or a "switch" taken to your backside (within reason) was not considered child abuse, it was teaching a child right from wrong and preparing them for life.  Now days you can't spank your child without having that child or someone else scream child abuse.  Kids now days are in a generation of the only discipline they receive is being sent to their room.  I don't know about anybody else, but if I was getting punished by being sent to a room filled with toys, a computer/internet, an IPOD or stereo, and gaming system with tv I don't think I'd learn much from that.

i think parents these days needs to spank and threaten their kids because kids these days are so so spoiled and ungrateful of everything that they have.

In the area that I live in 90% of the kids are disrespectful but the adults are disrespectful of each other and kids only copy what they see so I ask what is wrong with some of these parents? I am determined to move before my son gets to school age so that he doesn't have to go to school with some of these kids whose parents just don't care enough to set a good example.

I'm hoping that by "threaten" baby meant something along the lines of a parent saying something along the lines of, "Keep it up, and I'll swat your butt."

Is there a reason kids are being allowed to do this, moving isn't the only solution to a problem, teaching your kids through love and kindness and teaching them to respect their elders, is an important step for all parents, while we cannot control other kids behaviors, we can do our best, to keep our kids away from them, or possibly teach our kids and they will teach these kids by their examples, if they truly learn at home how to behave, and know its right, they will show other kids that that kind of disrespect is not cool.

I notice these kids around my neighborhood getting chased by the older ones. The older ones always yell out cuss words, try to show off. It upsets me... :sad1:
