Saw this on Dr Oz show today!  Touted as a great way to have dessert without fat and the audience said it tasted great!

Never heard of it, but I will try it. I decorate cakes and it is nice to have a variety for healthy people to pick from. I already do low fat. People want things that taste good and are a little healthier.

What does it do different to the cake. I would think it tastes good already.

What does it do different to the cake. I would think it tastes good already.

Hungry Girl demonstrated it on Dr Oz.  The soda is a substitute for the wet ingredients (egg and oil) the box calls for.  It's less calories and fat than when you mix it according to the instructions.  It also looked like it was a lot less fluffy.  She even said it was denser.  My problem with her ideas was that most of them involved packaged foods which Dr Oz usually discourages due to processing, additives, etc.   :dontknow:  I'd rather cook/bake from scratch.

There's also a chocolate mug cake recipe online.  I've tried it, it's very good.  Just enough cake to satisfy a cake craving.

:o Wow ! easy way to learn how to make a cake, for those people who claim they can't read and follow instructions from a box. Funny when people say I don't know how to bake a cake ...LOL ...No excuse now. Hope they don't forget how to turn on the oven.

Thanks for sharing ...sounds GREAT !  :notworthy:

I saw the club soda cake thing on Dr. Oz too.  I was amazed and my husband was shocked I hadn't heard of it before.  I guess it's been around for a long time, you can use any pop combo too.

Eh, definitely not feeling a denser cake.

It sounds good and it looks interesting! I bet it would be good since it is cake, but the name might have you thinking it is nasty, lol

That sounds AMAZING since club soda is very good, but now I wonder...
Who came up with the idea for the recipe? I can't think of any kind of inspiration for that. Does anyone know?
