Can you effectively use social network to direct people to your online business?

I have been using social network sites over the years and have built up large numbers ,maxed out on facebook,had 8,000 on myspace etc.My question, is there an effective way to guide these people to your online business?

I do direct sells and have a facebook page for my sales and quite honestly when you learn the trick to constantly direct new clientele to my site without spamming people please let me know.

Last 6 months I did a FB posting every Mon, Wed, Fri with various products, always posted new stuff on the 1st, did Google Ad, went through 50+ catalogs, left pamphlets on public boards and ran a quarterly promo. My sales were alright but not stiller.

This 6 months I am advertising in my grandma's church bulletin, still leaving pamphlets, went door to door to my grandparents neighbors that knew me growing up, limiting my FB to one posting a week (still doing new stuff on the 1st) and continuing with a quarterly promo. And I'm still not doing great.

Everyone says direct sales take time and quite honestly I started selling the product cause I bought a lot of it anyway. Don't get me wrong I've made some money, just not enough to consider it my full time job
