I am not debating evolution here. I just would like to know which you think is more accurate for the Earth's age... 4,000 years or 4 billion years.

And..... GO!

That'd be 4.54 billion years ± 1%This age is based on evidence from radiometric age dating of meteorite material and is consistent with the ages of the oldest-known terrestrial and lunar samples.

Religionists usually question such things as carbon-4 dating in order to promote a religious belief, unsupported by any evidence whatsoever, that the earth is 4000-6000 years old just because some dubious set of 'biblical books' says so.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

4,000 years? Oh, Sigi! You foolish mortal! It's quite obvious that the world is only a little over 6,000 years old! Not 4,000! I demand you edit your original post to do away with your mistake! Don't worry about the lack of evidences not present it my post here.

*chuckling*  Although it's usually not quite that bad, you've basically captured the essence of ignorance there, Jdog.

"Sheryls" is trying to ease back into the fray, (not noticing two wee lambs followed in behind her; "jedi" & "jcribb"), without obviously trolling jdog's humorous sarcasm.

One day to God is the equivelent to 1,000 years to man.  So in man's eyes it probably appears to be 4 billion years old.
Have a wonderful day!

Where does it display a chart of the mathematical differences in the bible? And what about what it says in Genesis? Surely your god did not make the earth in a few thousand years, and then have humanity survive for another 4.5 billion. Seems contradictory.

Ah, it wasn't a complete failure though.  Presumably, you were hoping for a few fundie proclamations about earth's age and they feared refutions?

Yes. So maybe they thought twice about making ridiculous claims.

Some may have, others didn't and made other ridiculous claims.

I believe the bible. but i think the whole earth created in seven days thing was just a metaphor for geologic periods in earths history. its kind of obvious when you really look into it.   :icon_rr:
