Virus heads up
« on: April 17, 2012, 09:28:35 am »
Just wanted to let yall know that my computer totally crashed due to Trojan and several viruses.  Took 5 hours on the phone with Dell and over $200 to get it fixed.  I very seldom ever go to sites other than those thru FusionCash so feel like I must have picked this stuff up at one of the sponser's sites after we get redirected to another site.  Just FYI

I'm horrified at getting a virus...when I first started fc I went all over doing the survey sites and got that horrible virus that pops up everywhere saying warning....warning....pop ups everywhere!!!  I got it cleaned up, (my sister knows computers) but the computer sorta limps along rather slowly now....HATE VIRUSES!  So, I don't venture out very far now!

These days, malware is more of a threat than viruses but whatever it's called...a headache. There are several free protections out there like AVG, Spybot, Malware Bytes, Zone Alarm, etc. I strongly suggest everyone use them and be vigilant. Do be careful of those "free" scan your computer for problems offers that include registry fixes, some have trojans, and you want to be really careful when you're messing with your registry files anyway. They end up cleaning only a few files, which you can do on your own, and then ask you to buy it. Check your computer often.

I had that happen to me on my lap top it crashed and I got a red screen and I just bought that lap top.  I went out to looked for some program to help protect my computer and there are a lot to choose from but, I found this one called System Mechanic and I could put it on three computers and I paid for one year subscription and it has really helped I have not had any of my computers crash yet and its been almost a year and it fixed the laptop right away when I downloaded the software and I believe I purchased the progam at Wal-Mart.  It says it fixes and speedsup your PC.  Makes it run like new, fixes registry errors, crashes, and freezes.  It cleans up system-clogging clutter.  It also boots Pc start time & web speed up to 300%.  Anyways I really like the program and when I get the money  I will renew my subscription when it comes due. I think it was under $50 but I could be wrong but it was a good price for up to three computers or what other devices cant remeber what they where but like those notebooks and stuff like that.

Adds and getting free gift cards....possible scams
« Reply #7 on: April 17, 2012, 08:56:14 pm »
Does anybody ever click on any of the adds from the daily paid to click section. For example, you might click on an add it it says you have just one a free best buy card. Does anybody ever follow through on those "get free gift cards" stuff and actually get the gift card in the mail?

Thanks for the warning.  I've got anti-virus running but you still have to be careful.

This is why I avoid offers on certain sites that require you to download something.  They could contain spyware/adware or viruses.  Make sure you also have web advisor to avoid sites that could harm your comoputer.

I dont need a virus (non of us do) I just got a brnad new computer in February...but, I am careful inwhich sites I go to . That is why i dont use youtube. That place has tons of viruses so i stay away. I never download anything unless I know for sure its reputible. Sorry you got a virus. I had a computer that got a slow acting virus and we didnt know it until its too late. It fried our hard drive and our files were unattainable...

I am a virus' favor, because I never got trouble by viruses. The software which I use now is antivirus for internet only. Maybe I am one of virus' lovers. :P
