Prom Memories
« on: April 24, 2012, 10:00:56 pm »
 :D

So this month there's been a whole lot of prom happening. :) And i think of mine just a few weeks ago and i wonder how different is mine to someone else's prom.

How was your prom? Did you go with a date or with a group of friends?

What i do know is i have to start saving up.  ;D LOL

Yea, prom was a really expensive occasion.  I had to spend money on the limo, the ticket, the dress, my hair, my nails, my makeup, and my shoes.  Prom is kind of overrated but I went with a good guy friend, so it was fun with no pressure.  So just have a fun time and don't go into it with high expectations.

My proms were pretty good.  For my junior prom my date and I went in with another couple and got a limo and just drove around for about 4 hours afterward.  Pretty uneventful with just driving around, but it was fun none the less.  Then the next day us 4 went to Cedar Point amusement park and spent the day.  My senior prom was just my date and I and then we went back to her house afterward and met up with some other friends and watched movies until she fell asleep...LOL  Then the next day we went to the island of Put In Bay and spent the day out there.  So basically, both of my proms were fun.

It seems like today though...things are a lot different when it comes to proms.  I like the idea of having After Prom's for the kids to do so us parents don't have to worry about them drinking and getting in trouble.

I didn't go to prom.  It wasn't a big deal to me, so luckily I'm not disappointed that I didn't.

I went with friends. It really wasn't that much of a big deal. We left, went and got ice cream then went to someone's house to watch James Bond movies.  It was fun, but the whole prom thing was just dumb.

I didn't attend Prom or any of the "dances."  Just not my thing.  Had more fun hanging out with friends casually.

I went to prom in highschool 3 years.  I went with my steady boyfriend, who is now my husband of 36 years.
Back then, we wore bridesmaids dresses and the guys wore their suits.  They washed their cars, but no limos and tuxes or tanning sessions, manicures, hair salons, etc etc.  I think we have one snapshot of us.

Tonight, we are attending an "Adult Prom" -- a Prom Revisited -- hosted by the Iowa Rock N Roll Music Association.

My granddaughters helped me choose which dress I should wear!  They told me that I couldn't wear the dresses that I had worn in 1975 or one of the bridesmaids dresses that I had sewn for my sister for my wedding in 1976!!

So I get to wear a nice orange dress that our 2 youngest girls wore to their highschool proms in 2007 and 2009.

Rock n Roll!!

i have no prom memories because i didn't go. didn't want to spend all that money for an event that i really wasn't interested in in the first place.

Wow those are all interesting comments. Yeah, prom really didn't reach my expectaions.

But it was fun just getting to hang out with my friends.

Question, How much does it costs to rent a limo?

I didn't go to any freshmen-junior year, but went to three senior year :) Very fortunate to be able to do that...dated a girl from another school, so we went to each others, then went with a friend who had just moved and needed a good guy companion....hard to believe this was 5 years ago!!
