When I was 10 my parents and I went to Wisconsin to visit some relatives and a bird pooped on my mom. And I can tell you she did not think it meant good luck. I think it's only good luck if something really awesome happens to you afterwards.  :)

A bird poop on someone means that the person was beneath the bird's flight-path when it let loose.  This event confers neither good nor bad "luck" for the future, (although is more likely to be considered "bad luck" at the time of the pooping event than superstitiously otherwise).
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Well this is another reason I love forum I went earlier and read some post that ticked me off of the rudeness of some ppl and then i see this and laughed not at you but at the time me and my sis were walking she looked up in the sky and splllllaaaat a bird pooed in her face I never laughed so hard in my life and she was mad lol i wonder if she still remembers that hahaha ty for making my day and sorry to hear that bird did that what did your friend do??

I agree with you. Sometimes i post things up and people say rude things.

I simply ignore it because at that point, if someone has to argue with a teen, i've come to a conclusion that i wouldn't be able to change their way of thought.

:) I try to post things that just happen to me. :)

That happened to me back when I was a little girl twice. Once my school took us on a field trip to disney world and it was around lunchtime.I had just gotten a hot dog  and sat down on a bench by a tree. Before I even got finished putting the mustard on my hot dog, a little evil bird came and pooped on my arm. The only good luck that came out of that was that I was wearing long sleeves. The second time that happened I was at the zoo. The bird didn't aim at me that time but he got the guy standing next to me and it splashed  :-X I hate birds.

I know, i get nervous about posting because so far, i've come to the conclusion that many of the comments I get on some of my posts are really rude.

:) My friend helped me wipe the poo out of my hair. THen i went to wash it in the girls bathroom, and sanitized it. LOLOL

You know, I've always been surprised that this does not happen more often. When I think of all the times I've been outside either by myself or with others and how few times I can remember this ever happening to anyone it's pretty rare.  Sorry you had the experience today, but love the thought that it is "good luck".  What a nice thing for your teacher to say!  I found this on the internet about the good luck portion:

It has to do with the odds of it happening by random chance. Its like 1 in a billion which is almost the same as winning the lottery. So if you are statistically able to get bird poop on you, then you should also be able to win the lottery.

Maybe it's only 'lucky' if the person pooed upon wasn't looking up at the time and avoided getting an eyefull?

WHEN I WAS A KID ME AND MY MOM WENT TO GET A HOT DOG AT ORCHARD BEACH AND A BIRD POOED ON HER SHOULDER. SHE THOUGHT THE HOT DOG GUY FLUNG RELISH ON HER AND STARTED A HUGE SCEEN. NEVER FORGOT THAT I WAS LIKE 4 YEARS OLD. NOT TOO YOUNG TO BE EMARRASSED!

From the time I was a very little girl, I remember being taught that when you look up toward the sky, keep your mouth shut.  I consciously thought of that whenever I looked up.  I think the poo thing happened to my mom once and she was trying to protect me.  I don't know if it's lucky or not, but I'd like to think that it is!  I agree with the others who said, "Go buy a lottery ticket!"

Well, no.  Unless you have evidence that such a belief serves as a viable "placebo effect"; do you?

There you go.  No doubt tourists and staff at aviaries take a lot of crap and nothing 'lucky' can be attributed to ending up looking like a statue in the park, (and just how 'lucky' are statues I ask?).
