Youtube! It's not only commercials alone, it's the way it's set up to come on. They pop up b4

the video you want to see comes on. Sometimes in the middle of the video, you're enjoying; The
Problem is annoying, what can you do if this happens & you're in the middle of downloading or  up loading! :BangHead: Advertizing has gone a muck like *bleep* roaches invading the wireless www internet! I know, advertizing give the people free access on line to the videos but what's the use of free videos when a commercial pops up any time during the video? :dontknow:

they are annoying, I agree.
I just mute them until the video I wanted to watch in the first place comes on.
I guess, it is better that someone else pays for the video, not the viewers.
There are fees everywhere too.

I agree with you and this has peeved me for awhile.  Advertising is so much more abundant now with the Internet; it definitely feels like overkill.  I guess I can see where they're coming from, though, because how else are they supposed to make money??

I agree, it is so irritating. If I am online for any length of time, it starts inducing sensory overload with all the flashing links/icons and I get a headache. Since 'regular' people (not companies) became able to make money by purchasing PTC banners and links at a very reasonable cost, these stupid things are everywhere! I have also noticed far too many of them are malware/spyware/virus hosts. >:( The ONLY reason I know that is because I have accidentally moused over, clicked on one unintentionally when in a hurry. :P At least I have great security protection and the program stops them. The ones that slide up and down and/or move all over on the page are the worst! It's like trying to catch a fly when I am 'chasing' the X to close them.

:crybaby2: Sad but true. Everyone trying to make a dollar and sell their products. That why I have started watching television on youtube no interruption. I have notice that their are advertisements all over the internet and sometimes you can skip over them.

What aggrevates me more than that is all the advertising on TV channels that I'm paying an outrageous amount of money every month to the cable company in order to watch!

Thanks, I thought I was the only one that is annoyed at this. The new generation is basically born into this media it's like breathing to them. I'm amazed as all these advertising is every where yet in all this, my little nieces don't seem to even notice all this extra lights & noise flashing at them. I had to sit in the car for afew minutes after visiting them before leaving; my head was spinning. I also heard that some people seeing all this media flashing/blaring at them could induce seizures!

jordandog ~ ya, I forgot about the banners, & the pop in out messages.

Ya, I know it is so we customers don't have to pay to run those ads. Some of these ads are so stupid useless.

Any Ideas? :BangHead:

The youtube advertising on the videos just ticks me off big time.  I thought that was a horrible move to make.

If companies are not careful, they'll find this over-advertising will have a negative effect.  When people got over stimulated with the ads, they become less effective.  Rather than people remembering the ads, they'll learn to tune them out as white noise and not notice them.

I'm basically at that point - I don't even notice the ads on most websites anymore.  I do make special note of those highly annoying popup/motion ads that completely disrupt a site.  I note them to make sure I DON'T buy anything from those sellers.

That's the way of the world now and will never change. The newspapers are going out of business thanks to the Internet!

Speaking of muting advertising/commercials, the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act, which applies to loud TV ads, goes into effect on 12-13-2012.  While this Act does not apply to internet ad volumes, I wonderr how many broadcast air and cable providers will comply with it, (since their revenue comes from advertisers annoying consumers with loud audio).

I hadn't heard of this. I think you could be right. At least the commercials still seem pretty loud to me. Maybe a lot of them are taking advantage of the equipment hardship exception.

Doubtless many, (if not all), of the television stations earning millions in advertising revenue are "claiming" the equipement exception in order to keep their advertisers happy until this December ... when some of them will probably apply for another "extension"-exemption.  ::)

I agree its very annoying.  There are popups everywhere and not just on youtube.  Sometimes when checking my emails, there are popups that come from out of nowhere and blocking my info.  It gets really frustrating.

Just FYI on the YouTube ads...when you post a video on YouTube you can choose to "monetize" it or not.  This will determine whether or not a video has a video ad in front of it or a pop up ad within the video.  If you are wondering why some videos have them and some don't, that is why.

That is one of the ways that some video bloggers make extra money through YouTube.
