I thought the Welsh were descendants of Celts.  Weren't the Picts up in the north of the island in tha area that's now Scotland?  Incidentally, if you want to encounter an incromprehensible accent, then talk to a Scot.

You are correct, sir - the Pict rumor is apparently an inside joke in Wales, (and since they have an odd sense of humor, it seems, the 'blue Pict' thing was hysterical to them in this context).

I have spoken to Scots with that thick burr however, I could mostly make out what they were saying, (until they slanged-it up on purpose).  Gaelic entirely eludes me - which someone from Wales found singularly amusing.  heh
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

well to me it would be German and some people should not criticize others on their lack of education or anything else this forum sometimes is a way for bully's to make people feel like not doing the forum get a life and get a little sympathy people geez
I wasn't trying to criticize any particular person, I was just making an observation on the despicable state of American education. It is not bullying to point out mistakes with the hope that people will want to improve.
By the way, I started to learn German, and it didn't seem very difficult, I just lost interest so I didn't pursue it. I would like to eventually learn it though, when I have the time and inclination.

I came to the US thinking that I knew English and Oh boy I was wrong,  I learned very quick that what I learned in school was Proper Grammar which is not the same thing as Speaking the language in this country.  I was shock to know that all my years of stidying English back home where wasted when it came to speaking.  My main language is Spanish and believe me that language is spoken differently in every country.  We all peak Spanish but each country has their own slangs, etc.  I think is the same with English, the one spoken in US is the American English, which the British do not always understand
